CR Planning: August 2015
CR Planning: August 2015
Here is your CR planning post for August! Welcome to all newbies, we hope you enjoy your stay at the Underground. Please feel free to ask any questions about what's happening in the game, whether you're just jumping in or you're a veteran player. You can use this post to:
• Discuss your character's background history with other players and make changes where needed.
• Work out shared history with canonmates and build in cross-canon CR.
• Say what kind of CR you're looking for and reply to others to offer CR.
• Say hi to the members of your faction and discuss your in-game strategy.
• Think about what territories you might want to make a claim on.
The plotting post for August is still live! Do check it out to remind yourself of what plots are happening this month. For those of you thinking about future territory claims, note that Lewisham has already been won by the Seelie/Unseelie Court this month. The territory map will be updated to reflect this development in time for the September plotting post.
In addition, I'd like to direct your attention to this post about the Night Council, bribery, and you, which provides more information about the Night Council, its representatives and how characters can influence them in order to influence events in the game.
Happy planning!

I've been playing this that someone in Hillingdon higher-ups wanted a man on the inside of the Night Council, and given how half the faction is supposed to feel about wanting to take them down, Faolan decided to volunteer so that that wouldn't happen. Not yet, anyway. And because half the faction understood that things would be massively unsettled if someone who agreed with the DOWN WITH THE SYSTEM feeling were to get in, they backed him on it. So now he's sitting in the middle of this sort of maelstrom of differing opinions, a sort of man on the inside, a sort of spy but not because of his oath. And having Sylvia trying to on the Night Council side of things would be perfect?
(Wow I seriously go on forever I'm sorry) BASICALLY in Faolan's canon he's a spy for the king and while I can't EXACTLY do the same thing here, getting him in the middle of political things like this would be AMAZING? Especially given that Hillingdon is so much on the outside otherwise, I think that this could be really fun. I TALK A LOT I AM SORRY what do you think?

How would you feel if Sylvia essentially asked him to spy on Hillingdon on her behalf?

Because this is their first month as Guardian's I'm still not quite sure what to expect out of the experience -- I'm sure we'll probably get more information next month but I will definitely have questions about the whole process of the Night Council Guardian arrangement once that happens :|a

All the information about the Guardian role was laid out in the post about becoming a Guardian. I don't have anything to add to that, so let me know if you have any specific questions!

and i guess my specific questions would be about the job itself. does it pay? is it a daily sort of job, for example, or more of an as needed when meetings happen etc sort of a thing? what sort of contact/how much interaction would they generally have with the night council representatives? uhhh, if they aren't there every day, how do they get their orders? ETC. basically i have a lot of fiddly little questions about the actual playing of being a guardian that only come up bc i think about faolan's life far too in-depth haha >>

Yes, the job pays. It can be either be a full-time job or part-time depending on Faolan's other responsibilities. Think of it like being a doctor or police officer on call. He could get called away to deal with an incident at any time, and he needs to be prepared for that. They will get their orders from higher-ranking Guardians and civil servants, but most of the time they'll be responding to calls from the public or other Night Council staff (again, much like a police officer on the beat). For example, if a supernatural crime happens, Faolan might have a contact in the police or know a journalist who calls him up to deal with it. As he becomes more experienced, he will build up his own network of contacts. You can assume that the Guardian who trains him will introduce him to these contacts, as well as building them up yourself through CR with other characters.
It isn't a desk job, by and large. Guardians are paid to go out and deal with shit, not to fill out paperwork. Faolan won't get an office and he won't find much if any official documentation, because a Guardian's work is confidential.
Occasionally he might have contact with the Representatives, but it wouldn't be an everyday occurrence unless he was specifically given the job of being a bodyguard for one of them or he caught a particularly nasty criminal and brought him to one of the Representatives to face their
wrathjustice.Let me know if you have any other questions!
