Faction Reward: August 2016

It's faction reward time! Every three months or so, the faction with the highest amount of plot involvement per player will have the opportunity to claim a reward. The winning faction is decided based on the average number of plots and events run by each player over the last three months.

So, without further ado, the winner is...

HILLINGDON CLAN!

Congratulations! You can now choose one of the following rewards:

• Gain a territory.
• Change a law in your faction's favour.
• Form an alliance with another faction.

Hillingdon players, you have until 27th August to vote for your preferred reward. Once you have selected your reward, you can then work out the details in the upcoming plotting post.

If you vote to gain a territory, you should decide what territory you'd like to win. If you vote to change a law, please discuss your options with me – you will need mod permission for your proposed change. Finally, if you vote to form an alliance with another faction, then it's a good idea to bring players of the other faction into the discussion to check that ICly an alliance could be made. The two groups will then be considered together as a single faction for the next round of group rewards.

Whichever reward you choose will ICly happen in September. A member of your faction will therefore need to volunteer to lead the plot in the upcoming plotting post. Enjoy!

HOUNSLOW TERRITORY CLAIM SUGGESTION

[personal profile] reticence 2016-08-17 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
Since territory claims must be for adjacent territories, that leaves Hillingdon with the choice of...Redbright. Because it's unlikely that a territory claim would be fought with Redbright, instead we were thinking that this could be the result of a political negotiation? In the negotiation, Redbright would gain the protection of Hillingdon against the Islington vampires, and in return Hillingdon would gain the territory of Hounslow and the space/power/benefits that territory would bring with it. (Also Hillingdon would have more presence within Redbright in general amongst the supernatural youth, which would make it easier to turn new recruits their way.)

During the negotiation for this territory Faolan would make it very clear that this is an agreement, but not an alliance. Hillingdon is generally against committing itself blindly to another faction's cause, and especially after the fiasco with Faolan's Guardian reveal, he would want to be very transparent that this isn't an alliance with Sylvia, so much as an exchange for their mutual benefit. Hillingdon is outgrowing its one territory. They need more space. They have people who know how to hold their own against vampires, which is important at this time in the city. No doubt they have something that Redbright would want in return for Hounslow!

A political negotiation makes more sense than outright war, the question is what can Hillingdon offer Redbright to convince them to hand over a territory? Redbright has its own team to protect its territory and fight vampires and they'd expect Hillingdon to be hunting vampires anyway since that's what many of them do, without any incentive.

So I think Sylvia would require more commitment from Hillingdon. For example, a promise to support Redbright should they attempt to take any Islington territory and to defend Redbright should Islington do likewise.

Another possibility would be for Hillingdon to hand over their minions to Redbright in order to bolster the Redbright Outreach forces, plus an informal agreement that Hillingdon would send potential new recruits their way.

Do either of those sound acceptable?

After discussing with a few Hillingdon players we think that the former would probably be more something they would agree to. That is that they would most likely commit to join together against Islington in exchange for the territory of Hounslow. They would definitely more readily agree to fight than to give up what little asset they have managed to acrue for themselves as it is. They are seeking to gain more presence within the community themselves, that's why I think supporting Redbright against a common enemy would be the best arrangement for them! Redbright might have their own team to protect and fight, but Hillingdon has hunters, after all!

Sounds good! Let's discuss in the next plotting post. \o/

EDIT: Please let me know who will be running this claim and when it will happen! Then I'd be happy to add it to this month's plotting post.

Faolan will be running the territory claim, as Hillingdon leader! As for when the claim will happen I was thinking this next upcoming weekend, ~September 3rd? NEW SCHOOL YEAR, NEW AGREEMENTS, NEW BEGINNINGS ETC ETC!!

I was aiming to do the Enfield claim next weekend, so could you move yours earlier or shall I move the Enfield one a bit later? From an IC perspective, would Faolan be more willing to make a deal before Sylvia attacks Enfield, or would he still be all right with it even after she's gone all SEEK AND DESTROY on Circle Midnight?

HONESTLY he'd be more willing to make that deal BEFORE she militarizes against them LMAO. He'd be worried afterwards that she might want to enlist them for help against Midnight/internally and it might scare him away from a deal.

If it happens before then he will have no option :')

That's fine, there's time enough to make sure that the Hillingdon claim happens before the Enfield one! Basically Enfield needs to happen before the 16th so that Abigail is captured. So if the Hillingdon claim happens 3rd Sept, I could shift Enfield slightly later to w/c 4th Sept. How does that sound?

Also a question bc I've never had to do a territory claim in quite such a way -- I know you had mentioned you'd be putting it up on the plotting post, should I also comment to the territory claims thread for this? Just want to make sure I'm following all the right steps, thank you!!

No worries! I've made a note of it on the plotting post here. If you'd like to reply to say that you'll run the claim, feel free. Then you can go ahead and plot as normal. :D
