CR Planning: May 2015

Welcome to the Underground! As promised, this is a follow-up post for players who have been accepted into the game to discuss your characters' AU backgrounds with canonmates and other characters, and to establish pre-existing CR (character relations). Feel free to revise your character's history as appropriate to fit in with other characters in the game.

You can use this post to:

• Discuss your character's background history with other players and make changes where needed.
• Work out shared history with canonmates and build in cross-canon CR.
• Say what kind of CR you're looking for and reply to others to offer CR.
• Say hi to the members of your faction and begin discussing your in-game strategy.
• Start thinking about what territories you might want to make a claim on.

There will be a plotting post on the 18th where you can stake your territory claims for the opening month of the game, choose a prompt from a list of plots and start planning the events listed in the calendar.

Read the factions page to remind yourself who your allies and enemies are, then take a sneaky look at the territories map as it currently stands and have a think about your faction's goals. Do you want to make an aggressive grab for power? Sit tight and defend the territories you've already got? Play nice and build alliances with other factions? There's no right or wrong way to play: the tactics employed by your faction are completely up to you.

As before, this is a player-led discussion, but I'm happy to answer any questions. Happy planning, and I look forward to playing with everyone when the game opens!

Oh, hey, he knew this woman who played the biwa and had eyes that could see through her eyelids and into the past and future...

I'd love to work out some commonality with their Japanese background, i.e. magical culture and "remember that one guy who tried x and then y happened". I'd even be game for them having run into one another way back, if you think that would be interesting.

I don't have a problem with them having run into each other as long as Ginko's not the type to blow his cover (which I don't think he would be but idk, au)! It might also be interesting if it was a while ago and they didn't immediately recognize each other, if we don't nail down exactly how they met right away. Heiji's from a fairly famous family, though, so maybe that's a thing...

Maybe they could talk about Seimei or something if Ginko figures out what Heiji is, that'd be pretty cool. Since Japan has a giant history of supernatural creatures but it's short on descriptions of vampires/werewolves (iirc it's Chinese vampires/zombies you gotta look out for), I was headcanoning the Kansai area at least as bigger on other types of supernatural creatures. Particularly fae and ghosts since a lot of youkai/urban legends would qualify as those two categories.

I think overall Heiji would be fairly friendly towards Ginko, because at last, someone to talk about Japan with, why don't they have more Japanese food in London...

Seimei, that would be awesome. Ginko definitely wouldn't let on he's fae publically, he's very live and let live if you aren't swappin ladies' heads or conning your village. Ginko was initially mentored by some pretty crap, exploitative witches, so it's possible that he saw him as a kid if he was summoned (via being the closest fae in the area or something)!

I'm cool with anything, they'll have something to talk about either way!

I kind of like the idea of spotting Heiji being summoned earlier; it'd actually make sense to be able to tell Heiji apart from other foxes because he's got black fur vs. red or gold.

So maybe Heiji can run into Ginko while he's tooling about in fox form?
