CR Planning: May 2015

Welcome to the Underground! As promised, this is a follow-up post for players who have been accepted into the game to discuss your characters' AU backgrounds with canonmates and other characters, and to establish pre-existing CR (character relations). Feel free to revise your character's history as appropriate to fit in with other characters in the game.

You can use this post to:

• Discuss your character's background history with other players and make changes where needed.
• Work out shared history with canonmates and build in cross-canon CR.
• Say what kind of CR you're looking for and reply to others to offer CR.
• Say hi to the members of your faction and begin discussing your in-game strategy.
• Start thinking about what territories you might want to make a claim on.

There will be a plotting post on the 18th where you can stake your territory claims for the opening month of the game, choose a prompt from a list of plots and start planning the events listed in the calendar.

Read the factions page to remind yourself who your allies and enemies are, then take a sneaky look at the territories map as it currently stands and have a think about your faction's goals. Do you want to make an aggressive grab for power? Sit tight and defend the territories you've already got? Play nice and build alliances with other factions? There's no right or wrong way to play: the tactics employed by your faction are completely up to you.

As before, this is a player-led discussion, but I'm happy to answer any questions. Happy planning, and I look forward to playing with everyone when the game opens!

CR Ideas:

• I have no canonmates and I must scream.


• Before she died she was a medium for hire (or low-cost spells, if you knew how to ask), if your character needed to contact one for whatever reason


• Still really sold on her being a murder victim (like in canon), unfortunately we don't really have anyone who'd prompt a revenge plot, sobs.


• If you'd also know her based off her history, hmu I'm down for anything (the tl;dr is she's a witch who fell into a bad crowd, and. her mother possibly works for a supernatural crime boss overseas thanks homestuck)


• Open to pretty much every kind of CR I'll be honest.


• She also had CR with Clara and Willard on the tdm/cr post - would you two be down for keeping that? ouo

Faction Claims: midnight has no territories and it makes me sad Despite being... active-ish in Circle happenings before her death, as a ghost she doesn't really care. whoops. But hey - if you have positive CR with her, you can probably rope her into helping your cause out of sheer boredom. win/win

Oh oh oh! I didn't know she was a medium before she died, I think Heiji would enjoy talking about that and also about TV psychics like Miss Cleo provided she knows who that is.

Is there anywhere Aradia hangs out in particular?

She probably does know who that is, given she's a total fan of cheesy things like that, so more people to chat about spooky interests is always a plus!

... and I totally forgot to mention her haunts, didn't I? D: She mostly chills at her old apartment building (it's somewhere in Richmond, I think?) but she tends to drift around a lot. Also shows up at Clara's coffee shop sometimes!

Clara's coffee shop sounds like a good spot, since Heiji already knows Clara :|a. Maybe he can come by looking for her and find Aradia instead...

Ginko has the advantage of being able to see her/summon her, if you like! He's used to chatting up ghosts and would be hella chill.

and they're both Midnight-ers I think?

Yes, they are. Though Nancy's still newish at it, I think there's a chance they briefly met before things went south for Aradia!

I'd be entirely down for them knowing eachother. Aradia was only briefly actually in Midnight before she died, honestly, but it was long enough for the ~*~bad crowd~*~ attitude to sink in. C:

So I had a silly idea, and I was wondering if you would be interested in Aradia and Kenzi being buds? I had an idea for how they could meet if you're interested

If Aradia was ever threatened with exorcism - Kenzi (in canon, even) pretends to be an exorcist and medium to con people into giving her money. How does an aborted exorcism sound as the ground floor for friendship?

Oooh I really like that idea. She'd definitely have been threatened with exorcism at least once, given Aradia tends to kick up a ruckus when something actually gets past the apathy, so Kenzi stepping in would definitely win some approval points. Plus, it's full of delicious irony over Aradia formerly being a medium herself (and also doing the same thing for Clara when she was alive, ahah).

+1 poltergeist of friendship. If Kenzi ever needs a intangible pair of hands for nefarious purposes, she's now got a ghost on the payroll.

I'm so down with these two having CR you have no idea.

I was thinking for the backstory, maybe Clara was contacted by another medium to help them find and root out Clara for one reason or another. But when she saw how nice and harmless she was, tried to persuade the other to not do it thus giving Clara the time she needed to get out of danger.

After that she looked for Aradia and tried to befriend her at that point but possibly found out she died by the time she found her or they only met a handful of times and I do this because I like making things even more tragic/sadder. ; ;

Yessss I love this idea. The distraction thing sounds like something Aradia'd do, especially since Clara's an entirely peaceful ghost.

Even if it'd be super sad if that was the only time they met before she died, I feel like Aradia would've tried to check up on Clara occasionally after that? She is(/was? whoops.) hella fond of ghosts.

... actually that's almost more tragic, 'cause then Clara would've gotten a better idea of what Aradia was like pre-death. Ow ;-;

Just a super polite ghost who right off the bat said hello when they first met and asked Aradia if she's okay why on earth are you here? It's very late is something wrong. :<

Oh my gosh this hurts so much but yes let's have them meet a few times and get a chance to know each other better and then one day Aradia doesn't visit her on the day she thought she would and she just. Waits. And waits. And waits some more until she drifts off in search of her and finds her.

I'm thinking of how to push Derek into running into her and it's possible that (everything comes back to this...) AFTER THE MURDER OF HIS SISTER he sought out some ghosts to see if they like, knew anything or even if Laura was there his secret hope. He'd probably assume that they were a pretty good source of info! What do you think?

That sounds perfect! She's not the highest profile ghost but she snoops around a lot out of boredom so it'd make sense that he thinks she'd know something. Especially if he found out she used to be a medium. (or alternately, only knew about the medium and not the "whoops she's dead" bit. outdated sources! c:)

Oh that could be cool YES LMFAO "ah here's a decently reviewed medium" and then aradia pops her head out of a wall and Derek sags
