CR Planning: July 2015

Welcome to the Underground! Newbies, we're very excited to have you! As mentioned in the calendar, there will be a welcome log posted on the 19th for newbies and current players alike to mingle. However, don't feel that you can't post until then, feel free to jump in right away! In the meantime, this post is a free-for-all for everyone to make new CR and figure out how to get involved with the game.

You can use this post to:

• Discuss your character's background history with other players and make changes where needed.
• Work out shared history with canonmates and build in cross-canon CR.
• Say what kind of CR you're looking for and reply to others to offer CR.
• Say hi to the members of your faction and discuss your in-game strategy.
• Think about what territories you might want to make a claim on.

The plotting post for July is still live with a couple of prompts left to claim, so please do feel free to use it!

I also want to add a quick reminder about the HMD meme that went up a couple of days ago, and in particular my request for feedback on the game. I've had a lot of great feedback already and am very happy to hear more suggestions, whether you've just joined or you've been around since the beginning. I will be starting to make the changes discussed from this weekend onwards, and more input is always welcome.

Kenzi | Circle Midnight | Witch

Kenzi is 23 years old and a die-hard goth. She grew up in Canada, where she was raised by a family of dark / Circle Midnight witches who may or may not have also been involved in the Russian Mob, and has only recently transferred to London to escape Canadian law enforcement. She has been a thief for over twelve years and will continue to steal everything she can get her horrid little hands on.

CONCRETE PLANS:

• Fakey Treasure Hunt - So during Barnet Kenzi found a page in a book that gave her hints that it belonged to a very old, very powerful book that will enable her to preform high-level spells without being high-level herself. That she completely believes exists. Whether or not it's actually real is still very up in the air, but I intend on having this be a B plot for her until it loses momentum. If you're interested in Kenzi suckering you into this wild goose chase one way or another - let me know!


• Around Halloween I intend on having Kenzi do something really stupid. Like try to summon a Fae in Abigail's Geap Manor, only to have the resident Fae there open her up for rampent possession as a warning not to fuck with things that are above her. It'll last 3 nights, while during the day she'll be free of whatever is squatting inside her, before he lets her go and it'll come as close to killing her as he can get without actually killing her.
  
  I'm planning on this being a pretty violent possession and I'd love to get her close CR in on this to try and help out - if this sounds interesting to you, let me know!

IFFY PLANS:

• So recently (or still in progress, however you want to measure it) Kenzi robbed the vampire staked victim, Carmilla, of last month's vampire hunting plot which was headed by Tetra. I asked if Kenzi could loot her abandoned lair and got permission to do so! I would like, very much, to have a vampire or Islington Nest ally to try and reclaim the goods Kenzi stole. If that sounds like your cup of tea, I'd love to plan something out!
  
• Do you have a lawful good or law enforcement type who needs a criminal to chase around? Kenzi is your girl! I really want someone to play fox and hound with her and, in the long run, run her aground and make her have to basically start over from scratch / abandon her little black market empire.
  
  This would be a long-haul plot, and I'm not planning on it coming to a head before Christmas. Let me know if you'd be interested in doing this or apping in a character who would!

DESIRED CR:

• Aforementioned lawful good or law enforcement type! I want the tenacious cop / good guy to Kenzi's tenacious horrible thief.


• Old boyfriends / Prospective new boyfriends. Granted this is a hard one to fill, and I would ideally like the characters to have some chemistry before we even start thinking about making this a thing (past or present tense). But obviously, sometimes you just know, so if you think one of your boys would be a good match for Kenzi let me know!


• Competition in the black market / customers / business partners, ect. Kenzi is in deep in this community, so I'd love to get some CR going.


• Fae for her to get in deep with. KENZI IS QUEEN OF BAD LIFE CHOICES, so naturally I want her to get in over her head in favors with Fae. We can figure out how this actually works, but yes. This.


• SPIES FOR AND AGAINST CIRCLE DAYBREAK. See Sylvia's CR post for deets.


• Literally anything I want Kenzi to have all the negative / positive CR possible!

But yes!! I would love for Kenzi to start stacking up her favors with Mab - shall we establish a way for her to get into contact with Mab should she ever want something?

Yes, I'm so excited! Mab has a phone. Sauske recommended one that was pretty cheap and really out of date but she can be reached by telephone. OR if Kenzie doesn't mind taking her life into her hands, she can be given Mab's name for summoning. It's more polite to call though.

I could offer Lance as a police foil, but he's a community support officer rather than detective, and down in Richmond/Kew area which is Daybreak territory. If you can make that work, though, he's all yours for chasing about!

Works for me! The fact that he's Daybreak is fantastic enough on it's own - she's basically the poster child of 'WHY MIDNIGHT IS TERRIBLE'.

How about next month Kenzi starts trying to do things in Barnet that Daybreak wouldn't approve of? I'd be glad to make a prompt along those lines!

Barnet is way out of his jurisdiction as a policeman, but I could probably swing him going to investigate something more underground there unofficially since it is Redgate territory and Daybreak & Redgate are allied. It might take a little more futzing, but it's doable if she'd be drawing attention! What kind of thing were you thinking?

well a) nancy has a book now about summoning fae. so. feel free to steal it.
b) Nancy is still anti summoning fae. SO AGAINST IT YOU IDIOT OH MY GOD KENZI.
c) so obviously she needs to get hurt during the possession.

She will also help with treasurehunts and everything. But sorry she still won't introduce Kenzi to Fagin but if she wanted to add him as a npc partner thing feel free. Nancy will also just be really furious and warn her about it, but I hope she'd have the good sense NOT to deal with this actually terrible man.

I love that we know each other's canons so we dont' even have to explain

also yes yes yes yes yes yes getting hurt during the possession gimmie dat angst. I have the idea that every night she'll get possessed by something new and on the last night (since Lynn and I both know the canon Abigail is based on very well) having THIS THING get in her on the last night and it'll really try to do some damage to Kenzi and errbody except Abigail. It'll also try to gtfo the house which is BAD.

THAT THING is terrifying I don't like it. So yeah, whenever you want Nancy to get hurt. Do the thing.

So yeah. She'll just forgive kenzi. WAIT why is that thing not even gonna go after Abigaiiiillll. also I already know why Nancy is actually at the hous einstead of her place: to make sure kenzi is safe. yes. good. such pain.

bruh when i was watching crooked house like... once a week (because apparently i hate myself) i would always start like crying when that THING came on screen. UGH ITS SO CREEPY I GET THE JITTERS JUST THINKING ABOUT IT /whines

And the thing won't attack her because it's like.... the offspring of all the fucked up magic her ancestors did to make sure the family line wouldn't die out? IDK HOW TO EVEN EXPLAIN IT BUT BASICALLY when people were stupid about family lines needing to be continued by male heirs, this particular Widdowson wasn't having any children so he (in canon) decided to get in contact with a witch (who in the AU is the Fae who raised Abigail) who made this weird gross creature instead of a healthy baby boy.

AND THEN THEY TIME TRAVEL AND STEAL A BABY FROM THE FUTURE?? AND THEN THE WIDDOWSONS ARE OKAY??? ITS REALLY WEIRD butiloveit

I don't have a specific list of what she took from Carmilla, but we can easily come up with something valuable to vamps that got taken with the rest of the loot. Jewelry or literature? Or something else?

I'm trying to think of what kind of book would be of value to vampires. Maybe something to do with heritage? Like land claims or something?

yeah that would work for me! it'd be important to get that back, and if it has to do with older vampires his sire would probably have put the pressure on him, which generally works the best to get him do do something lmao

Oh shit i just remembered this but we'll have to think of a creative way for him to get invited into her place. She wears a witch's amulet, so he can't influence her unless he takes it off her. Any ideas?? ;;

NOT ESPECIALLY because I'm tired but. Pretending to be some kind of service person or getting invited up for the night after meeting at a bar??? Is pretty par for the course for him to hit on somebody to take advantage..... I can probably think of something better with sleep !
