CR Planning: July 2015

Welcome to the Underground! Newbies, we're very excited to have you! As mentioned in the calendar, there will be a welcome log posted on the 19th for newbies and current players alike to mingle. However, don't feel that you can't post until then, feel free to jump in right away! In the meantime, this post is a free-for-all for everyone to make new CR and figure out how to get involved with the game.

You can use this post to:

• Discuss your character's background history with other players and make changes where needed.
• Work out shared history with canonmates and build in cross-canon CR.
• Say what kind of CR you're looking for and reply to others to offer CR.
• Say hi to the members of your faction and discuss your in-game strategy.
• Think about what territories you might want to make a claim on.

The plotting post for July is still live with a couple of prompts left to claim, so please do feel free to use it!

I also want to add a quick reminder about the HMD meme that went up a couple of days ago, and in particular my request for feedback on the game. I've had a lot of great feedback already and am very happy to hear more suggestions, whether you've just joined or you've been around since the beginning. I will be starting to make the changes discussed from this weekend onwards, and more input is always welcome.

Clara Seville | Redbright Affliated; Ghost

SUMMARY;; Clara is kind of an old ghost, having passed away in the 1990s, and used to originally haunt a coffee shop that used to be her apartment complex where she peacefully passed away. She's been around long enough to move around in different places now. She's pretty friendly. At the moment she's heavily in favour of the Redbright Institute due to her fondness for the waaaay younger ones and the fact her only living relative, Magra Seville, resides there to being a metahuman.

She's begun taking a more active role in the community these days in order to keep herself busy and from a desire to help people. Like becoming a security guard of sorts for Redbright to help them out with keeping an eye on the students. She also accidentally but willingly became a spy for Mab to give information she learns from her adventures here and there. Whoops but yay.

CR PLANS;;

→ SHAKEN, NOT STIRRED in Clara will try to be a spy for Mab by snooping around places she shouldn't be snooping around in to learn what others are up to. (Islington Nest territories, East End Pack territories, and places like that.)

→ LOOK, HANDS! in which I'm trying to figure it out what I want to go down: Either it's a typical day at the coffee shop or she gets chased by some mediums hoping to exorcise her thanks to the increased supernatural activity at her place in Harrow. This will be how she'll be getting her ghost gloves either way!

→ AND EVERYTHING NICE...ISH I'm hoping to aim for her to meet new people and forge more relationships, positive or not, with the new characters here! I'm also planning to flesh out more of the reasons why Clara is still lingering on the living side when, by all accounts, she should be at peace.

CR IDEAS;;

Some things I mentioned in the past that I'm interested in trying out in the future!

→ OLD CONNECTIONS because like I said she's been around for a looong time since she moved to London around the late 1960s - early 1970s. She would have had the ability to move beyond her haunting spot by the mid 2000s and began to really explore what's out there. I can see her making friends with mediums who wish her to do no harm or metahumans who aren't scared of her presence and even a fae or two if they so desire.

→ BACK IN THE DAY I would love for her to have met someone she knew in her youth to come back in her life now. Especially if she thought they were mortal like her but nope her old friend from before turned out to be a fae/vampire/etc and now she's a ghost. Funny how that works?

→ FULL OF SECRETS I'm already planning out Clara's desire to figure out what her unfinished business is and how to resolve it. It does, however, involve her being forced to face some facts about her family who she always likes to present as always nice and warm and loving when in reality of course they weren't that, not always. She doesn't want to but if she needs to move on, she needs to acknowledge some truths from before.

→ AND EVERYTHING ELSE HERE I'm so up for her having positive CR to negative CR. Clara isn't really part of a faction, heavily affiliated with Redbright but what can she really do about that, so she merrily floats around minding her own business so I can see her getting involved in things by accident or so.

First of all, hi you <3 Maera here wants to be involved in "Look, hands!" and such shenanigans! Ghost gloves will make for such lovely pranks, ahhh :D

Also - I know the TDM thread we did was pretty modern, but Maera's been very active in London since the 50s or 60s, so she could easily fall under old connections as well. If that's something we want to consider! :D

Yes, I knew she would. \ o / Just trying to figure out where to have this happen. I'm really tempted to make it a Yakety Sax medium-ghost chase somewhere in the city since that'll be more interesting but I also like the idea of her finding them in the lost and found box at the shop because. Humour.

!!!!!! Yes! Let us do that if it's possible pleeeease. Clara came to London in the 1970s when she was only eighteen years old. If they could have met each other at that time then it'll be aces. /o\

Omg what if they were friends when they were both teens? I mean, Maera would've already been in her 40s but she would've looked like a teen. Eventually Clara would've had to know that Maera was supernatural, though. :|a because Maera would never appear to have aged past 25 if she could help it.

I'm very tempted to do that since the silly nature of it fits perfectly with Clara at the moment. But medium shenanigans. Either way I'll have a post for this open tomorrow so I'll link it to you so Maera and her can hang out, yes/yes?

I love the idea of them meeting each other when they were 'teens' so much! She would be grateful to have a friend when she's still all new from everything in London. Since I've stated a lot of times that Clara never found out about the supernatural until she became a ghost maybe she and Maera drifted apart when Clara got older/Maera started to get more work in the Courts?

And honestly, Maera might have pulled away from Clara as the latter grew older, simply because Maera wouldn't want to keep secrets from a friend and would probably think it'd be easier to just cut them out of her life. And then they could've met again after Clara became a ghost and become friends again, because surely Clara would've understood why she had to stay away??

That sounds perfectly reasonable. Clara might have been hurt at first when Maera started to drift away when young but now that she's older and known things at this point, she'll try to understand why she did it but friend. You could have least written a note now and then. :<

But basically yes let us do this. Do you want them to have met up at this point or meet up for the time ever in a thread later?

I think they should've met up at this point? We can play out their ~second time meeting~ in another thread, I'm sure! But this way, we can go straight to ghost glove plotting :D

Aside from meeting Faust, Clara can totally count on Heiji supporting her in whatever comes her way. But I think it'd also be interesting to have a talk about why she stays around?

Because of course Heiji is going to be living for a long time, and Faust... well, he kind of hopes his own wife is somewhat like Clara, i.e. not passed on.

I would be up for that myself! It'll be good to have Clara sit down, or try to sit down at least, and explain why she would be still be around since she keeps giving off this aura of 'everything is fine' whenever she meets people.

And it'll be interesting to talk to Faust about ghostly things and try to explain some of things she figured out along the way in hopes of giving him an idea where/how his wife might be if she's still around.

Yay spy. I am loving their interaction. I did not expect to be able to suborn her without heroing some kid for her. But now Clara has a way to CALL Mab to hero a kid for her. So if you ever want her to do that, Mab would love Clara to feel loyal to Mab.

A stroke of luck that Mab came in during a time that Clara really wanted to help people out more.

And yessss we totally should have Clara call on Mab to save a child or someone she knows from danger and just causing herself to be further indebted to her. That'll be amazing to do. \ o /

Spying for Mab, what kind of traitorous behaviour. Actually if she already has an in with the fae, would Clara be willing to pass information back to Sylvia?

Oooh! On one hand she doesn't want to get herself and Mab in trouble but!! I can see Clara telling Sylvia something crucial in regards to witches/Redbright students when snooping around during her attempted spying. Then faltering a bit when asked why/how she knew this because she's the worst liar ever.

Honest to goodness she just wants to help.

Has any useful information come up yet that she could tell Sylvia? Would be happy to thread something out whenever!

... Tetra and I are actually threading out an encounter with Heiji and Clara and the subject of putting Clara in a jar came up. She thinks it won't hurt at all and haha...

At the moment something is developing that could involve the Redbright faction! Just waiting to thread it out more to see what it is and then asking the player if it's okay for Clara to report it in the future.

I would so be up for that! Do you have any preference of when they knew each other and how it happened? I was thinking Clara would have known him then around in her early twenties - late twenties, perhaps? Just as she's settled into life in London and still has time on her hands despite being a mother at that point before it gets hectic and lost contact with him down the line.

What year would that have been? He started spending most of his time in London around the 1700s!

Clara moved to London with her then boyfriend at around 1969 when she was still 18. I think they could have run into each other while she still had free time on her hands and she's running around, looking for jobs to keep her and Francisco afloat.

Yeah, that would work! he's most often found in seedier places or something related/near to the water, but he still could have run into her I think. I'm game for them meeting pretty much anywhere honestly! his sire took him all sorts of places.

Ohhh if that's the case then I'm really tempted in having them meet waaaaaay before like, back in the Philippines during the 1960s or so. It'll be neat to have them meet that long ago and have her run into him again after she's become a ghost.
