So very late about doing this-- but hello! My name is Audrey, and I bring you, Captain Homer Jackson: yankee, snake oil sawbones, card-fixer, whoremonger, and a surprisingly brilliant doctor under all that stupid!

 

He's from Ripper Street, a Victorian-era crime procedural, set a couple months after the Ripper murders. He's Inspector Reid's pet loud-mouth American, and serves as his surgeon, crime scene analyst, and chemist all-in-one.

I've transposed him to modern day, but you'll still find Jackson working for the police in Whitechapel. By day, he's a forensic pathologist. After hours, he's a witch, who splits his time between getting drunk and sleeping around, coming up with quick schemes to get money, and hiding from his vampire enemies in America.

Heiji specializes in murder cases, but occasionally ends up involved in kidnapping/arson/others. Particularly weird ones, in which someone's car explodes while they're driving it or ends up hung from an impossible height or something :)

Then there's definitely a chance that they might've met. Jackson and his division are involved in a variety of strange cases-- exploding bookstores, serial killer victims with their kidneys cut out...

Maybe H division's lent him out to do forensics on what of Heiji's cases?

Why, those are the very best kinds of cases! But yeah, that sounds excellent, and all the better if Jackson is used to the job! For some reason, people are really loathe to discuss missing kidneys....

'cause missing kidneys mean serial killers, and those are never fun.

8( There was actually a killer mimicking Jack the Ripper in Whitechapel a few months ago, so Heiji may also be aware of that investigation??
