Announcement & Planning for End Game

Hey everyone, it's Sky here. With this post I am making an official announcement that the game will be closed as of end October. As you can imagine, this was not an easy decision to make but I have taken the time to reflect since the previous State of the Game post and to give you the chance to express your view too.

Closing the game
First of all, I want to say that it's been a great two and a half years. Running this game has been a pleasure and it has been especially rewarding to see you guys take the premise and run with it. I think we created something very unique together, and I want to thank all of you for joining in and making the game such a fun experience. It's your enthusiasm and creativity that has kept this game running for as long as it has.

Thank you to everyone who commented to the SotG post. I appreciated everything that you had to say and I know that a number of you did hope that the game could continue. I haven't been approached by anyone who wants to take the game on, and while I know there was some talk of recruitment, my sense is that it would only delay the inevitable. Even if the game went on for another month or two, I don't think the momentum is there. Now feels like the right time to move into endgame.

Which brings me to...

Five Years On
The game will wrap up with a Five Years On event where you can play your characters doing whatever they're doing in five years' time. Have they worked their way to the top? Gotten a new job or a relationship? However you want to conclude your character's arc in the game, this is the place to do it.

The event post will go up next Monday 9th October.

In the meantime, please feel free to use this post to plot and figure out where you want to go with your character and their CR! I'll be observing (and possibly participating in) the discussion to get an overall sense of what the game future looks like (peaceful? bloody? more or less equal? that sort of thing), and the wrap-up post will contain a summary of the situation in London in 5 years' time.

Character amnesty!
For the duration of October, the game will be open to any character who was previously in the game! Just request to join and I'll accept the request, no questions asked. You're then free to post any wrap-up posts, reunion threads, whatever your heart desires. You can also participate in this plotting post and in the 5-year wrap-up post!

In summary
• The game will remain open for the duration of October for you to continue playing, wrap up your threads, etc. Old characters can return too!
• There will be a Five Years On wrap-up log on 9th October where you can conclude your character's arc.
• Use this post to plot! Happy planning, and thanks for all the fish.

The Artful Dodger

Sooo... who wants to help him kill Fagin? Because I'm pretty positive - given his current in-game progression - it'll happen at some point before the "five years later" arc.

Roddy will do this. I'd like to think Roddy kept doing jobs with him after the first one, and since Roddy's loyal, he'd do what he had to to help a friend out.

I suspect they'll be talking about the death of Fagin in past tense in the five years later BUT IT CAN STILL BE PLANNED SO WE KNOW WHAT HAPPENED.

Also there's the Kill Bill plan

He won't charge for Bill, but Fagin he wants a paycheck for

Could probably get that sorted. Fagin's got a hidey-hole filled with stuff.

He'd be willing to arrange payment after, so long as he actually got paid. If he didn't, he'd be dogging The Dodger until he did XD

The Dodger pays his debts. He knows better than to have 'em hanging.

Roddy will have started his career, and will have a place in an orchestra, which he'll be very excited about. However, he hasn't given up his place with Hillingdon, and has even learned to fight with the help of the East End Pack. He still hasn't really moved up much, because he's more concerned with starting his career, but he still is a more active participant with Hillingdon than he's been in the past.

Thomas will be back in London after being away for those five years! In that time, he'll have found his brother, one of the other vampires sired by his sire will have staked said sire so he'll no longer be subject to his whims, and he'll probably have returned to help research some occult thing (tm) for a case that his brother is working on. He'll also be using that opportunity to catch up with old friends.

Arthur

[personal profile] specifiercity 2017-10-02 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm happy to do whatever for the remainder of the game! Obviously Arthur has most recently been investigating the goings on with the werewolves and I'd love to keep that rolling whether or not it comes to a conclusion. If anyone wants any last minute present-day threads with him just let me know and we'll figure out something to do!

For Five Years On, Arthur will have gotten out of the hunting business for the most part. He might still be a kind of guide type for the younguns providing contacts for supplies and bounties but he'll definitely be out of the politics & strategizing game. If anything he'll be offering up any of his non-hunting services (those being security and general supernatural knowledge) to anyone who needs it. He's kind of like an all-around general consultant/"guy who knows a guy" for all your supernatural needs... he can't tell you how to make that potion you're trying to make but he almost certainly knows someone who can.

He will also have moved in with Eames and they'll almost be functioning like a regular couple. They won't be super open about it - you won't be a getting a Christmas card from them any time soon, or ever, but this was probably one of the various nails in the coffin for his political career given that Eames will still be a fae Lord and Arthur doesn't need people questioning his decisions or behaviour. If you want to appease my shippy little heart I am open to any and all threads related to this as well give me all the awkward dinner parties and double dates please.

It's been super fun playing with all of you! If I've forgotten anything or you want to thread something different for the last month/five years on just hit me up here or plurk!

[personal profile] freelife 2017-10-03 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
Please hit me up for regular game treads!

Well, Evie's been up to pretty much the same stuff for the last five years. Killing people. She and Natasha will have since broken up, but remain on friendly terms! Likely, she'll have left London for a time, running around the world and trying to make things better for everyone.

Laura

[personal profile] cabins 2017-10-03 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
I'm very open to continuing threads into October! Laura's got a bit of a coup to help push along...

That being said, five years later, I would love Laura to not only be the Alpha of the East End Pack, but also the President of everything the Night Council! Presumably she had a kick-ass campaign and came out on-top after her rise to the top of the East End. She succeeded in creating a position on the Night Council for the werewolves, and kept the position of Representative until she was elected president.

She's still a huge dork.

Nancy

[personal profile] stauncherhearted 2017-10-03 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
Let's keep the ball rolling with October!

Five-years later, however, Nancy is dead still living. However, things aren't looking too great for her. She'll have long since ended her relationship with Cooper and immediately took up with her felon ex-boyfriend Bill Sikes, notorious temper tantrum werewolf. With Fagin dead, Bill doesn't have anyone to really answer to, so that helps things. He, however, is still an abusive dick and Nancy is still madly in love with him.

It's also very very possible that, since the return of Bill, that Nancy's cut off contact with most people. If Bill asked her never to speak to someone again, she would listen, despite the fact that he's her familiar. Oh, yeah. That's a thing.

can killing bill be a thing that happens? cooper would be up for it, I'm sure and daryl would be up for it.

or at least in the works?

IT'S IN THE WORKS! Talk to Zara, because I think she's spearheading it as Nancy plays no part and is going to be oblivious and heartbroken.

Eames

[personal profile] falsify 2017-10-03 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Five years later, still the Lord of Autumn. Still hates being the Lord of Autumn, but assuming things aren't terrible for fae anymore he's a lot more chill and significantly less stressed and angry all the time. He even takes some trips abroad! With no real warning, sorry friends he's gone for a week.

He and Arthur are 'openly' a couple, in that they're not really hiding it anymore and living together. I'd say it's been that way a couple of years, or basically not long after Arthur stopped working at Hillingdon. (I don't think they've had the conversation about exclusivity yet though /waggles eyebrows)

Significant events he's had a hand in will be helping Dodger kill Fagin (and probably putting some money/contacts toward getting the boys in his den somewhere decent to live and all that,) and also helping murder the heck out of Nancy's dear Bill. Probably made at least one attempt on his life before Murder Team Up but Nancy always seems to be in the way somehow.

MURDER TEAM UP!

Mogget

[personal profile] bellbound 2017-10-09 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
One thing I'd like to have happened in the next five years is for Mogget to have escaped temporarily! Probably after (or because of) Samantha's powers being sealed away, she ended up removing his collar and then he would have almost killed her (and probably at least one or two others) before being trapped again. That incident would be a good general reminder not to remove Mogget's collar.

Other than that... it's possible that after five years he might have... made a friend or two? And by "friend" I mean "person who feeds him fish and whose company he doesn't hate". It's possible.

[personal profile] falsify 2017-10-09 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Eames will gladly facilitate Mogget's escape. Maybe they'll even get along a little when he's not bound to a horrible, horrible witch for a little while.

Eames will still be sarcastic and rude to him of course, but in a friend-adjacent way.
