Welcome to your May plotting post! You can make use of the information here to plot what your character will be doing in the next month. May is a big one, guys. We're going to see a major political shake-up this month, culminating in an election campaign for the highest position in the Night Council: the President. That's right. Sylvia is going down.

OOCly, we've got a How's My Driving post and the latest faction reward scheduled in for mid-month, so look out for those. Check out the calendar for a quick summary of when things are happening. You can also check the game timeline to see what has happened in the game so far.

Factions
Tensions between Circle Daybreak and the Seelie/Unseelie Court are at an all-time high following the latter's successful claim on Croydon ahead of the controversial opening of the Magical Innovation Centre. Many of the fae that had gone missing were captured and imprisoned at the Centre to be used in magical experiments. The Seelie/Unseelie Court would not stand for this offence and mounted a rescue attempt to try and save as many of the imprisoned fae as they could.

The idea behind capturing fae was of course down to Samantha Okeke, the Mother of Witches, and the divisive nature of her policies has only further cemented her determination to continue. Angered by the Night Council's withdrawal of funding for the centre, she has instead concocted a plan with Cesare Borgia of the Islington Nest to get both of them elected to the Night Council.

In early May, Samantha will officially replace Nora Shannon as Witch Representative on the Night Council. But that's not all. On 7th May, a breaking news story will reveal that Sylvia Redbright cheated her way into the Presidency when she was first elected by conspiring with Millicent, the now deceased ex-leader of the Islington Nest. This scandal will result in a vote of no confidence for Sylvia, who will be forced to step down as President. It's snap election time!

Meanwhile, the Hillingdon Clan has joined the leaders of the Redbright Institute and the Islington Nest in that its leader Faolan has now publicly condemned Circle Daybreak's stance regarding the fae. It seems there are many who disagree with Samantha's actions – but do they have the political will to stand together?

Last but not least, the East End Pack finds itself in yet another dilemma. They made an alliance with Circle Daybreak in return for help to fight the vampires, but Samantha has all but given the cold shoulder to the pack's alpha Katherine Moore, blaming the werewolves for Circle Daybreak's failures in Bromley and Croydon. Is it time for the pack to find a new ally?

Territories
The Seelie/Unseelie Court won Croydon from Circle Daybreak, which makes the Islington Nest the most powerful faction in the city with seven territories. See the Territories page for more information.

If your faction would like to claim a new territory, please comment to the appropriate thread. Players will then have three days from the date and time of the initial claim to sign up for the conflict. Anyone can sign up, but please only volunteer your character if they are a member of a faction involved in the conflict or they have IC reasons to actively help out. Please do not volunteer if you won't be able to participate in the plot.

If the outcome of the conflict is not already guaranteed, I will then look at the sign-ups list to calculate which faction will emerge victorious. It is up to players to plan and play out the actual conflict itself. If you comment to claim a territory, then you should also take the lead in planning and organizing it.

‣ Loves coffee more than tea and claims she was disowned by her family for it; couch hops around Hillingdon and complains about money but never seems to be short of it when she really needs it.

Liadan Waters | Meta Human, Hillingdon Clan | Level 2
‣ Mother of a young son, she runs a daycare centre for meta human children. Her powers include healing and foresight.

Caratacus Snewing | Shapeshifter, Islington Nest | Level 2
‣ A horse shapeshifter, he hangs around the vampires under the illusion that they are much cooler than they appear to be.

Thomas Nightingale | Witch, Redbright Institute | Level 1
‣ A witch who thought he was retired until he started ageing backwards. Now over a century old, he returned to the Institute as an instructor and member of the Outreach team.

Gregory Blake | Fae, Unseelie Court | Level 1
‣ A changeling who thinks this makes him an expert on human culture. He hasn't been to the mortal realm since 1823.

Events

1st May – BELTANE.* The fire festival of Beltane is a time of celebration for witches, marking the beginning of summer. It is traditional for covens to light a bonfire, wear flower crowns and perform fertility rites. The first day of May is also when the barrier between the mortal world and the Other Realm is at its thinnest, which is why some witches still leave offerings to appease the fae who may be passing through.

2nd May – THE WITCH REPRESENTATIVE. Following a series of supernatural visions, Nora Shannon will officially pass on the mantle of Witch Representative for the Night Council to Samantha Okeke, the Mother of Witches. Nora is convinced that her visions mean that Samantha is destined to take the role, and so this changeover of power happens without any objection in the witch community.

6th May – WESTMINSTER MORRIS DANCING. That good old English tradition of Morris dancing will be on display in Westminster as teams from all over the country perform dances from their region. It's quite the spectacle, but watch out for the Seelie sneaking in to steal the dancers' sticks.

7th-11th May – THE MILLICENT SCANDAL. It'll be a media feeding frenzy as breaking news on 7th May reveals that Sylvia Redbright cheated her way into the Presidency when she first took office with help from Millicent, one of the previous leaders of the Islington Nest. The news will escalate over the week, as Samantha Okeke takes the opportunity to call a vote of no confidence in the President. The pressure will mount until the storm finally breaks on 11th May when Sylvia Redbright announces her resignation as President.

10th May – FULL MOON. Werewolves, it's that time of the month! Will you chain yourself up or spend the night in a cage? Roam wild in the London parks? Or perhaps find a witch to make you a wolfsbane potion. Whatever you choose, better be prepared.

19th May – NOMINATIONS FOR PRESIDENT. The nominations for President will be announced on this day. Candidates are nominated by upstanding members of Circle Daybreak, Redbright Institute and the Night Council. Player characters can stand as candidates if they are at level 4 or above, but please bear in mind that the election result is not up for grabs.

20th-31st May – PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION CAMPAIGN. The Presidential candidates will be campaigning for your votes right up until the evening before the election. Expect eager volunteers to be knocking on your door with flyers, slogans and persuasive arguments. Note that only members of Circle Daybreak, the Redbright Institute, the East End Pack and the Night Council get a vote, so candidates will only need to campaign in those areas. This is a snap election with a very short turnaround, making for an inevitably chaotic campaign. Oddly enough, candidates seem to be dropping out at a rather fast rate...

23rd-27th May – CHELSEA FLOWER SHOW. Enjoy the wondrous displays created by gardeners all over London. Who says that city life can't be green?

1st June – PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION. The day of the election! More information about this in next month's plotting post.

Plots
The following prompts are up for grabs this month:

1) There is a bounty on a rogue vampire. The vampire has defected from their nest and is turning innocent people without permission. They have created a violent gang terrorizing the streets. Reward: £2000 – Claimed by Melly
2) You are abducted by fae. It seems they want something from you... perhaps your blood, a lock of hair, or even your soul. Either way it looks as though you're about to be sacrificed. – Claimed by Shade
3) A teenager is killed in a tragic accident, then mysteriously turns up alive again. They're not dead or a vampire. It seems they have some other power.
4) You're asked to take part in a May Day event with a twist: all the dancers around the maypole must be naked. Come on, it's all for a good cause.

About plots and events
• You may claim one plot prompt per month.
• You can also run your own plots based on the events listed above, or create your own.
• If you claim a plot, then you also volunteer to take the lead OOCly i.e. planning and organizing with other players, deciding on the outcome, setting a timeline etc.
• Once you have claimed a plot, you should introduce it ICly within the next month.
• Plots may not be entirely handwaved. You may handwave some of the plot, but you should play out at least part of it.
• Some plots will require NPCs as well as player characters to fill different roles. Please feel free to make up and play the NPCs yourselves.
• Plots are generally open-ended enough that you can make them big or small. It is up to the player who claims the plot to decide how they would like to handle it. You may want to do open sign-ups for your plot and specify whether there is a limit on how many characters can participate.
• Plots can also be self-contained or form part of an ongoing storyline. Again, it is your choice on how you would like to handle it.
• Please feel free to integrate plots and events or join plots up where appropriate. For example, if you claim a plot that involves a murder, why not choose an event during which the murder could happen? As long as the mod and other players are aware of your plans, I'm happy to accommodate.

These plot ideas are just that, ideas, and it is up to you to run with them and decide how and why these events are happening, what your characters are going to do about it, and what the consequences will be.

Referencing back to the short discussion we had about a more peaceful and quiet takeover of Richmond back in November, I'd like to move forward with that this month if possible.

I figure the witches will be more resistant since their Innovation Centre is now located in Richmond, but that's exactly why Daryl wants to put pressure on them and force the take-over now. So they can't dig in further. With the scandal going on with Sylvia and the take over of Lambeth, he figures they'll be reeling a bit and since he's already been working with members of Hillingdon to secure the territory more cleanly than the witches have (with their focus on the New Mother and the whole building thing), now's probably the best time to try for it.

He'll want to do it during the Election Campaign (that Hillingdon is once again being left out of even though it's for the PRESIDENT) just as a bigger middle finger to them. The catalyst being people campaigning no longer being allowed to campaign in the territory since Hillingdon 'owns' it and if they can't vote, then there's no reason to let the volunteers litter the place with flyers. With Daryl and his people facing down one of the lead campaigners for a Circle Daybreak candidate and whoever they get to try and back them up.

I'd still like it be largely non-violent, and a lot of intimidation on the part of Hillingdon to pressure them into backing down and accepting the new rules. (should Hillingdon win).

In an attempt to show that he's an upstanding citizen and that Sylvia is not, Cesare demands that, due to her corruption, Sylvia should give up some of her power and give one of her territories to the people of the Night Council.

Quietly he's also trying to give Islington Nest a buffer zone from Sylvia. But Samantha doesn't need to know that.

Hillingdon condemns Daybreak's stance toward Fae and Daryl, personally, is pretty upset that resources went to building that obscenity of a Magic Center instead of protecting the people within Daybreak's territories that are particularly vulnerable (and have been hurt this past year due to their negligence). Between the two, he's ready to take a stand.

If he wins, the Center for Magical Innovation in Richmond will be permanently closed and the building put to better uses.

NPCs and the Presidential campaign!

All right, it's definitely time for an update on where the NPCs, in particular Samantha and Sylvia, are standing at the moment! I've talked previously about how one of my aims was to reduce Sylvia's power and to create a rift between Circle Daybreak and the Redbright Institute using Samantha, so that the power of the NPCs is more fragmented. This is what we're seeing right now in a rather savage fashion: Samantha taking the opportunity to work with Cesare to set up Sylvia for a major fall. Samantha's aim is to take control of the Night Council using Cesare to help her achieve her goals and continue with her work on the advancement of magic.

This is a major event that impacts the whole game, so let's talk what happens next! First of all, there are three things happening this month that are fixed:

1) Samantha becomes Witch Representative.
2) Sylvia steps down as President.
3) (If the OOC requirements to move up to level 5 are met), Cesare will win the election.

If the OOC requirements aren't met, I'll change tack but let's assume that's how it is for now. Beyond that, it's wide open. I am very willing to set Samantha up for a fall if anyone would like to do that later on. She's trying to manipulate the Night Council to her own ends, so come talk to me if you want to stop her!

I think I might also do what I did before and post some newspaper articles as a sort of open log for people to use to react to the month's events. That seemed to work quite well before, what do you guys think?

sO, since the wolves and the witches have been about as cozy as sandpaper, i would actually like to have ghoul have a sitdown with samantha... jesus take the wheel, right. but he feels like he needs to 1) get "her side" of the story and figure out once and for all why she is so obsessed with the fae the way she is (and this would honestly be an A+ time for her to play up some sob story or lie her face off and make it sound like she's only doing this For Everyone's Safety or whatevs, if she's the type to go that route), and 2) have a chat about the relationship between cd/ee and what can possibly be done to improve it. he figures he's one of the reasons things have been rough, so he's thinking that maybe if he has a face to face with her then maybe he can smooth it back over.

i'd like him to try and make some kind of deal with her but i'm not 100% on the details yet. would there be anything in particular she'd want to trade? like, if he asked for her help in a push on newham, what would she want in return? votes for cesare? or something else? nothing at all because she wouldn't agree to that anyway?

i def want to feel out how this could go, because ghoul is still a wildcard in regards to her. he wants to genuinely listen to what she has to say for once and he's going to try to get along with her, but if things crash and burn bad enough he will decide fuck her entirely and start making moves against her/her center/trying to pry katherine away from her.

Hello yes Lillian is here! (Schrödinger's Fae, etc etc.)

She would certainly like to stop Samantha from gaining any more power after what she's been through. Would it be possible for her to speak about what happened to her and others at the centre and show the injuries she's still recovering from as proof? She'll also try to make a case and point out that if the fae are being targeted so aggressively like this then what will happen to other supernatural begins like vampires and werewolves and maybe(?) metahumans if the fae are gone? She's been around long enough that after a target has been eliminated, someone in power usually finds new targets to go after.

Also! I was wondering if it was possible to speak with one of the Kings/Queens of the Seelie or Unseelie Court and report to them about this. She knows they don't care about what happens in the mortal realms that much so she'll try to play up the angle of 'The witches are starting to think they're more superior than us (again because humans amirite) and are trying to use faes like they're tools to be thrown away when done.' She personally doesn't like to stroke potential fires considering the temperaments of the Royals but she thinks there needs to be some assurance that the Kings and Queens will try to keep a closer eye on what's going on.

Hi guys!

So I need to whip up a territory claim and I was wondering what sort of claim people would like to participate in this month.

I have a few options that I've been considering, but I'd love to hear if any of these take your fancy or if you have any other ideas! I'm totally happy for this claim to fail, so if you like the plot of one but don't want to lose your territory, that's an option too.

Thoughts:
1. Cesare subtly attempts to start a protest regarding Sylvia's corruption that results in a territory claim on the Night Council
2. Cesare gives up his own Islington territory to the Night Council as part of his political campaign
3. Cesare attacks the Un/Seelie Courts to show Samantha he's anti fae. Probably using some sneaky murdering.
4. Cesare claims on the Redbright Institute and publicly demands she give up a territory because she is corrupt and deserves it.

What do you guys think? Are any of these interesting to you? Roll again? I would love to hear your thoughts!

Ok guys. So I slept on it and tried to figure out the friendliest way for Cesare to make the claim. So, if it works for everyone, he'll be trying to snatch a territory from Sylvia and give it to the Night Council with a rousing speech about corruption.

SO since Arthur is now the highest ranking PC Hillingdoner I am happy to take the lead if we want to make this into something! He definitely supports the anti-Daybreak sentiments so a temporary alliance with Redbright is something he'd be in for, but let's talk about how the faction as a whole is going to behave!

IC Arthur is the Chief Hunter, so he definitely doesn't have much of a say in the direction of the faction as a whole, but he's probably going to instruct the hunters to be very choosy in which jobs they take and from whom, just in case the Daybreak witches are out trying to hire out for fae-catchers again. He plays it pretty close to the chest but doesn't think it's very controversial to be against fae-slavery, so anyone who has a discussion with him will certainly get the idea that he wants Samantha gone.

Hi yes! Allison's been out of the political side of things since growing accustomed to living in a new country etc but I'm interested in a meeting/talk/whatevs since she's at least affiliated and should probably made more solid ties since she's relatively inexperienced in these circles.

Daryl is very Anti-Slavery of any kind and is fully in support of the Anti-Daybreak Stance.

He'd actually like to use this as a push to take Richmond from Daybreak if he can get the support for it. He's been wanting to take the territory for a while and I have a mostly-non-violent means plotted out, but he'd need support before he went for it.

SO Jean-Claude is not going to be very happy with many many different pieces to this puzzle, and in fact there is so much going on that I am going to make a bullet list.

LAMBETH TERRITORY CLAIM:
So OOCly because we won this as our faction reward we are obligated to USE it before the next faction reward. ICly the reasoning that Jean-Claude is going to be taking this step is because he went to the opening of the Magical Innovation Centre and realized that there's no reasoning with Samantha on this so the solution? Start cutting down more of their power. Also taking out Lambeth takes another one of their territories bordering on Seelie/Unseelie ground.

OOCly we know that we already win this. I am planning for this to happen BEFORE the scandal goes down with Sylvia and Millicent, that eventually leads up to the shakeup in the Night Council, so I am thinking that this will happen as a retaliation for the changeover from Nora to Samantha, so probably the night of May 2nd. HE IS NOT TRYING TO BE SUBTLE HERE.

PRESIDENTIAL SHAKEUP:
ALSO with Sylvia off of the Night Council and nominations opening up, Jean-Claude will be eligible. Which means that he will make the run for President, and this time he really will try to win. He will also be using this as a positive PR campaign for Islington and vampires in general, since you know. Raymond left things in the shitter for him, and he's been struggling with the cleanup ever since. Doing nice things like getting them back into politics only to have shit like Cesare turning around and stabbing him in the back happen. THANKS FOR THAT BRO......

JC will be doing campaigning around the city in the areas where there will be votes, in the attempt to garner support for his vote but also for his cause in general (aka NOT SAMANTHA'S HE THINKS SHE IS WRONG). Because he is technically not supposed to win this, it will be a moot cause BUT I'm hoping it will be a chance to gather everyone together who feels This Is Not Good? And if your character would not associate with the likes of him, why not? Is it just because he's a vampire? LMK he's trying to work on PR, which brings me to my next point.

ISLINGTON EVENT:
During the time of the Presidential Election Campaign, that means I am thinking of having him throw a party. A proper Victorian masquerade ball, to be exact. In true vampiric style. As a man who has actually lived through the century, he knows a thing or two about throwing one. I figure it will take place around May 26th, if that is good timing for everyone else? Gives us all time to plan outfits and for me to plan outfits, venue, setup, and everything else HAHAHA

The one thing that I do know for certain is that Jean-Claude will encourage all vampires to attend celebrating their history, whatever that means to them, and for all non-vampire attendees to feel free to embrace that history with them. It is an event for Islington/vampire public outreach, so much as it is a PR event for what a genuinely awesome guy JC is and trying to convince you to vote for him. It also is more sneakily an event to unify all the Islington vampires together underneath him and convince them that yes, you made the right choice by sticking by his side, see what a good choice you made.

Thanks for writing this up, it all sounds great! Question for you! Would it be at all possible to convince Jean-Claude to withdraw as a Presidential candidate during the campaign? Any dirt that could get him to do that? If not that's completely fine, but Samantha will be doing her best to make sure that there's a ton of negative press coverage about him too, so if there's any dirt that could make it into the press let me know!

Abducted by the fae

So, I'm sure you all have been wondering what Cooper is going to be doing during all this political kerfuffle. Or not, but I'm gonna tell you anyway. Since this plot dovetails nicely with what's been going on, the fae have decided that Cooper is to blame for this whole mess. So a group of them are going to be abducting him, intent on dishing out some karma. For maximum potential, they're going to torture him for a few days, waiting for the full moon so that they can sacrifice him in an attempt to change their fortunes.

So, this can go a couple of ways. He can be rescued in the nick of time by some concerned characters, cause who doesn't like a good damsel in distress plot? Or people can search for him, but not find him, so he has get out of this himself. In which case he will return mega pissed off at the fae courts and probably high off fae blood again to boot.

Hey guys! It's Melly and I'm going to be doing leading the plot of a vampire, a group of victims, and a fae that's gotten way over his head. Here's the breakdown of what's going on, what's going to happen, and what's to do!

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The vampire behind this mess is one of the few ones left that are frustrated that Raymond was disposed off some months back. They liked his way of ruling things (AKA anything goes) and would like it back ASAP for themselves. They're attempting to do so by recklessly making their own vampire faction! Hence the turning many as people they can get their hands on - They're trying to raise lots of foot soldiers/mooks for themselves and is testing them by unleashing them on the streets to see what they do.

A lot of these new vampires are innocents/probably unawares, many only following the vampire in fear of getting hurt/killed and are being kept in the dark about the Nest's existence. With the Millicent Scandal being the main focus of the supernatural community right now, they're using this chance to try and get rid of many perceived enemies of vampires as they can because they can.

Lillian will be picking this up and will try to stop this in an attempt to prevent any more harm happening to others. The fact this could help her get on the good side of the Nest also helps because possible allies/deals in the future would be nice.

INVESTIGATING
This will happen during the 7th to 9th of May. Lillian will notice the string of deaths and attacks that will be occurring over at Redbridge and Waltham Forest since they're East End territory and start snooping: Talking, spying, the works.

(And if it's alright of the players from East End and the Nest - Can I use the deaths of the minions as part of the plot? I was thinking of making their deaths connected since Tandra Hahn is an East End member and that'll help Lillian figure out that this vampire-related and a death of someone who doesn't fit the pattern - Shady Heavens, in this instance - being killed since they stumbled across the hideout and had to be silenced. If not then it's cool! That's the basic gist of how the investigation will go.)

The vampire's hideout will be over at Hackney due to its proximity of Redbridge and Waltham. It'll be a rundown building that's meant to be torn down this week but oddly enough there's been reports of accidents there huh. At some point she'll be meeting JC to talk about the situation and to also hammer out some details. After promising to keep this under the rug to the best of her abilities and etc, he'll help her out by pointing her to the right direction and stuff like that. After confirming it'll lead to-

GATHERING
This will specifically happen during the 10th of May with Lillian trying to gather the tools and materials to prepare for the confrontation and find allies in this mess. Lillian will be asking for help with this by approaching characters she thinks can help out + be discreet about this when looking for things or bak up. She will pay them in return if they ask: A article of clothing of their choice, charmed with her magic to have multiple charms on them instead of just the usual one charm. It's exhausting but will be worth it.

So she's going to need items! Basic items - Vampire Toxin, Jupiter Stones, ropes - will be gathered by Lillian herself/the fae minions or be things that she already has. Things that are a little more difficult to obtain - blood bags, components for a... shrapnel bomb, wood, and the like - will be searched for by reaching out to others like asking for help from the NPCs or from player characters. Especially making the shrapnel bomb part because hey. :|a

CAPTURING
This is going to happen during the 11th - 12th of May just as the scandal is dying down and Lillian needs to nip the on the bud before people start to pay more attention to this.

Lillian is going to try and separate the vampire leader from the newly turned so there's no strength in numbers and no one to rely for orders/directions from, respectively. This is because she thinks if the newly turned vampires are separated from their sire and learn there's somewhere else they can turn to for support/help, they'll be willing to give themselves up in hopes of mercy/something better. (That and there's good old menacing intimidation to make them back down.)

So how is this going to happen? She'll lure out the group and the leader by spilling blood near the hideout. The newly turned won't be able to control themselves and rush out with the vampire following to stop them from being spotted. When they're noticeable, they'll be kept apart via fae trickery and Lillian will try to incapacitate the boss vampire soon as possible.

How? She's going to use a homemade shrapnel bomb that's specifically made of wood when they're close enough. It's going to hurt a lot but oH WELL. SHE'S BEEN THROUGH WORSE. (Stares at certain places and laughs.)

Either way the vampire is distracted and that's when fae minions + vampire minions come out of their hiding spots to apprehend the weakened/distracted vampire when the chance presents itself. The vampire will then be turned over to the Nest to be punished as the Nest sees fit.

this is a good writeup and it does good things. i don't mind if you want to use tandra for this! i'll point the other wolf players your way too just to make sure nobody has anything contradicting planned.

if you'd like to borrow ghoul for this too you're more than welcome to! he'd likely be checking in on her anyway when he sees her shop is occupied again (wait, is she back in it?), so there's incentive for him to talk to her right there. he has experience with making explosives but he (obviously) doesn't go around sharing that kind of information so she'd ppprrrrrobably have to mention it first...
