Here are the activity check results for the opening month of the game!

Good news: everyone checked in! So really there's nothing to report.

Instead, I'd like to take this opportunity to explain a little bit more about character rewards, since I've received a couple of questions about them. The OOC process for getting rewards is very simple: collect points, claim your reward.

Of course, rewards are also events that happen ICly as well! They are designed to help you plan and play out your character's arc within the game. Once you have been OOCly granted your reward, you will need to decide how your character ICly acquires it within the next month. This can be a one-off event e.g. acquiring an item, or it can be a gradual process e.g. increasing your influence or power within your faction. You can decide how you would like this to happen, and play your character accordingly.

If you're stuck for ideas or you're not sure what your character ought to be doing in order to advance in rank or any other reward, please feel free to ask me! There often isn't a single answer to these questions because the character roles are so different. I'm happy to discuss ideas and let you know what is and isn't feasible.

I ACTUALLY DO HAVE AN AC REWARDS QUESTION, as I have been thinking about it for a few weeks now. I'm interested in playing Stiles the way he is -- human, no supernatural powers or abilities granted by objects, etc. So what could I potentially work towards getting him, in terms of activity rewards? Would more mundane things be possible to get through this system? (Like, and this just a random example, A CAR or something?)

If the answer is no, that's totally cool! I was just wondering 8]

Sure! Yes, he could definitely acquire mundane things through this system! You could literally request the exact mundane thing you want (PLZ GIVE STILES A CAR, MOD– BUT DOES HE HAVE A UK DRIVING LICENCE?), or just ask for something unrelated to supernatural shenanigans and see what gets thrown at you.

What I would also suggest is thinking beyond Stiles as an individual character, and consider whether you might want to spend some of your points on helping out your faction. For example, if he reaches level 2 then you can spend your activity points on gaining minions. These don't have to be Stiles' very own minions (...can you imagine), but you can make up additional members of the pack to help add to the faction's overall strength.

That ties in with another question I had, but haven't asked (because it sounded stupid). I wasn't sure if he'd be able to advance in rank because he's human in a faction of woof woofs, but you've answered that for me! I think this is a wicked neat idea, and I'd be happy to give the faction minions on Stiles' behalf (because holy shit i can imagine and it's terrifying). THANK YOU SKY.

No problem! With characters like Stiles, where he doesn't fit neatly into the pack hierarchy, it is still possible to advance in rank if you can figure out a role for him to play within his faction that would require a greater level of influence/authority. It may be that realistically he wouldn't be able to reach the higher ranks (he couldn't be the alpha, after all), but level 2 would definitely be achievable!

...I mean, he would have to get Derek on his side first. But that's possible, right?

Just a question!

I was thinking of having Clara move up to Level 2 to reflect her increasing involvement with the game in the next month or so but does that me she can evolve as a ghost? Can ghosts get evolutions? Mega evolutions? Can there be a shiny?

I'm not totally sure what you mean by evolve as a ghost, but it is possible for ghosts to move up through the ranks if you can find a role for them to play that requires a greater level of influence/authority. Like Stiles, Clara isn't a neat fit into the pre-existing hierarchy in her faction, but there might be other ways she can be involved.

What sort of involvement were you thinking of?

That's what I meant! Since Clara doesn't have a hierarchy at all in her supernatural type, I was wondering if she was able to be promoted at all if I opted to do that down the line.

I was wondering if she could more involved with the Redbright Institute, mostly concerning the students' safety and welfare, but be behind the scenes as not to surprise or startle people with her presence. Also sorry for being tardy in this reply.

Yeah, at the moment I think she's just sort of... floating around the Redbright Institute because her grandchild is there, right? So if you want her to move up the ranks, then finding some sort of official role to play in the school would be great. I'm just going to throw some ideas at you, let me know what you think...

1) Security. Patrolling the school and grounds at night. Excellent for detecting intruders and trouble-makers because she's invisible, less good at actually stopping them. Basically a walking security camera.
2) Student counsellor. To the ones that can see her, anyway! And the ones that aren't creeped out at being counselled by a ghost.
3) Spy. This would require infiltrating other factions and reporting back information on their movements/plans. Could get very unsavoury, so maybe not suitable for someone as lovely as Clara. But Sylvia would be willing to take advantage of her powers. This might be more suitable to do later on, after Clara has proven her loyalty to Redbright.
4) Finding and supporting other ghosts? You'd have to ask Lynn, but Henry Morgan is a medium and Clara is a ghost... so maybe there are some possibilities for a partnership there?

Yep! Just goes there at times to check on her grandchild because she's her only anchor left.

Ooooh I really like the idea of her being part of the staff as either security since she tattletales already to Apollo or as a spy. She definitely wouldn't be comfortable at first with spying but is getting involved with Dr. Morgan's clinic plot and is already dabbling in the realm of spying so there's a strong possibility of that for her.

These are all great ideas and I'm definitely going to keep them in mind when I plan out Clara's progression. Thank you so much! \ o /

Ooh, I have a question! So to move up to higher ranks, you have to lead a territory claim, right? Do you have to win the claim as well?

Yes, you have to lead a territory claim to get to level 4 or 5. It doesn't matter whether you win or lose, as long as you lead and play out the claim!

Yay! And on the same subject, the fae don't currently have a faction leader, so I believe that means we have to check with you before making any territory claims. If we were to put in a territory claim for next month, would that be all right? We're sort of discussing on plurk atm.

Thanks :). Another question: I noted that in one of the info pages, it mentions that fae are capable of magic that might help a werewolf, even though for the most part they don't do so. One of Heiji's specialties is illusion magic; would it be plausible to enhance that with an activity reward so that his illusions of a full/new moon could buff/debuff werewolf strength? Not to the point where it would trigger/reverse a transformation, of course, and dependent on things like fairy ointment.

No, illusions wouldn't have any effect on werewolf strength because they're, well, illusions. So they don't have any real impact.

An alternative would be to consider what he might be able to offer in terms of granting protection, since that is an ability listed in his app. Just remember that any kind of lasting or powerful protective magic should come with a cost.

Hmm, okay. I was thinking it could be a neat tie-in since stronger fae get into reality-changing territory and I'm trying to go for a nature theme...

Would something like being able to make plants grow or being able to walk on water work? Or healing injuries?

Any abilities requested should fall within the scope of Heiji's existing abilities, or be in line with common kitsune mythology. I wouldn't say growing plants or walking on water falls into either of those categories. Healing is more of a possibility, but again would have to come with a cost.

It's hard to recommend anything since I don't know what you're aiming for, but there are other possibilities! E.g. additional shapes, invisibility, invading dreams. These are all potential fae powers that fit with kitsune mythology.
