April 2017 Plotting Post
April 2017
Welcome to your April plotting post! You can make use of the information here to plot what your character will be doing in the next month. Spring has officially arrived, we're in British Summer Time (BST) and this month we've got a fun little event for Easter coming up as well as your usual political intrigue. Plus, we'll have a new Test Drive Meme coming up at the end of the month, so look out for that!
Check out the calendar for a quick summary of when things are happening. You can also check the game timeline to see what has happened in the game so far.
Factions
The big news at the end of March was the Night Council's announcement that summoning magic is now legal again – because it is no longer classified as dark magic. It was the Mother of Witches, Samantha Okeke, who submitted the original petition and this month she will waste no time in forging ahead with her plans to embrace the use of fae in witchcraft. Her first move will be to alter the magical seals in Circle Daybreak territories so that while fae still cannot pass between the mortal realm and the Other Realm, witches will be able to summon them.
While Circle Daybreak were unable to win Bromley last month, they will continue to search for and capture fae. Later this month will be the grand opening of the new Magical Innovation Centre, where Samantha intends to help witches rediscover and reinvent modern witchcraft, including the use of fae magic.
Circle Daybreak's new approach has proven to be unpopular with the leaders of some other factions. The Redbright Institute will informally refuse to support Circle Daybreak in its future efforts relating to fae. The Islington Nest has gone even further, with Jean-Claude declaring that anyone sympathetic to the current Daybreak cause will be expelled from the Nest. The Hillingdon Clan is yet to take an official stance: some of its hunters have profited from assisting Circle Daybreak, while others are more sympathetic to the plight of the fae.
Meanwhile, the East End Pack is struggling after choosing to ally itself with Circle Daybreak. Katherine Moore, the alpha, has already been forced to punish one or two members of her pack for disobedience during the Bromley territory claim last month. Rebellion within the pack has left her on the back foot and still with some way to go to prove her loyalty. She's taking a hard line on this one: be loyal to the pack, or face the consequences.
And finally, the ongoing tension between the East End Pack and the Islington Nest will escalate further this month. The East End Pack has a rule that any vampire entering their territory must be killed on sight. Jean-Claude hasn't gone quite so far for the Islington Nest, but he has declared that any werewolf caught trespassing will be subject to a punishment of Islington's choice. Consequently, patrols in both areas are on the increase and strangers passing through are likely to be met with suspicion if not outright hostility.
Territories
Circle Daybreak failed to take Bromley from the Seelie/Unseelie Court which means the territory map remains as it is. Circle Daybreak and Islington Nest are the joint top factions, with seven territories each. See the Territories page for more information.
If your faction would like to claim a new territory, please comment to the appropriate thread. Players will then have three days from the date and time of the initial claim to sign up for the conflict. Anyone can sign up, but please only volunteer your character if they are a member of a faction involved in the conflict or they have IC reasons to actively help out. Please do not volunteer if you won't be able to participate in the plot.
If the outcome of the conflict is not already guaranteed, I will then look at the sign-ups list to calculate which faction will emerge victorious. It is up to players to plan and play out the actual conflict itself. If you comment to claim a territory, then you should also take the lead in planning and organizing it.

About plots and events
• You may claim one plot prompt per month.
• You can also run your own plots based on the events listed above, or create your own.
• If you claim a plot, then you also volunteer to take the lead OOCly i.e. planning and organizing with other players, deciding on the outcome, setting a timeline etc.
• Once you have claimed a plot, you should introduce it ICly within the next month.
• Plots may not be entirely handwaved. You may handwave some of the plot, but you should play out at least part of it.
• Some plots will require NPCs as well as player characters to fill different roles. Please feel free to make up and play the NPCs yourselves.
• Plots are generally open-ended enough that you can make them big or small. It is up to the player who claims the plot to decide how they would like to handle it. You may want to do open sign-ups for your plot and specify whether there is a limit on how many characters can participate.
• Plots can also be self-contained or form part of an ongoing storyline. Again, it is your choice on how you would like to handle it.
• Please feel free to integrate plots and events or join plots up where appropriate. For example, if you claim a plot that involves a murder, why not choose an event during which the murder could happen? As long as the mod and other players are aware of your plans, I'm happy to accommodate.
• Do not ask the mod to explain what the plot is and what your character should do or discover. That is up to you. These plot ideas are just that, ideas, and it is up to you to run with them and decide how and why these events are happening, what your characters are going to do about it, and what the consequences will be.
• You may ask the mod questions pertaining to game mythology, to check that what you are planning to do makes sense within the game world.
• This list is not meant to be limiting in any way! Player plots are also very welcome.
• If you have an idea for a player plot, please feel free to comment here and see if there is any interest. Run it by the mod first if you're unsure of anything.

Minions
The following lucky minions will be promoted this month:
Daisy Connell | Witch, Circle Daybreak | Level 1These minions will decide to leave town this month:
‣ An exceptionally clever young witch who loves to experiment with new magic.
Liadan Waters | Meta Human, Hillingdon Clan | Level 1
‣ Mother of a young son, she runs a daycare centre for meta human children. Her powers include healing and foresight.
Heidi Anderson | Witch, Circle Daybreak | Level 2And these less fortunate minions will sadly die this month:
‣ An American witch who is constantly at odds with her peers in Daybreak due to a clash of ideals in how covens should be run.
Isiah Breaux | Werewolf, East End Pack | Level 1
‣ A mean-spirited media technician with unusual luck.
Kari Morrow | Vampire, Islington Nest | Level 2
‣ Still a relatively young vampire, by the standards of the nest. Heavily into the goth scene in the eighties, imagine her astonishment when she found out that the vampire she had been roleplaying with wasn't actually roleplaying at all.
Harland Strafforth | Meta Human, Islington Nest | Level 1
‣ A lawyer specialising in murder cases and questionable deaths. Helpful if you're a vampire stuck in a bit of a bind.
Fatima Sayed | Witch, Unseelie Court | Level 1
‣ An old witch who carries a lot of favour with the Court for her respect of the old ways.
Matthew Jones | Meta Human, Redbright Institute | Level 2Factions may decide how and when their minions die, leave town or receive a promotion. Feel free to work these developments into any of this month's plots.
‣ An energetic student with the power of persuasion. Despite possessing this very dangerous ability, he strives to be a good person.
Events
1st-17th April – SCHOOL HOLIDAY. It's the Easter holidays! Enjoy the break, don't misbehave.
2nd April – ONE SIDED SEAL. Now that summoning magic is officially allowed, the witches of Circle Daybreak will gather together to recreate the magical seal covering Daybreak territories. It's being referred to as a "one sided" seal because it allows witches to summon fae or banish them back to the Other Realm, but fae are still locked out. This means that fae still cannot create Doors to or from the Other Realm, making them unable to cross over without a witch's help.
11th April – FULL MOON. Werewolves, it's that time of the month! Will you chain yourself up or spend the night in a cage? Roam wild in the London parks? Or perhaps find a witch to make you a wolfsbane potion. Whatever you choose, better be prepared.
14th-16th April – SCAVENGER HUNT / EASTER HOLIDAY WEEKEND.* Taking place over the Easter bank holiday weekend, enjoy a fun-filled Easter egg hunt for all the family at the Redbright Institute. For those who like more of a challenge, sign up for the scavenger hunt and race against your peers to solve the clues and find the treasure. This is a time-sensitive event open to all characters regardless of political or supernatural affiliation. Characters will be sorted into small teams and must solve the clues before the end of 16th April (both ICly and OOCly!) to win the prize. Look out for an OOC sign-up post with more details soon!
21st April – MAGICAL INNOVATION CENTRE GRAND OPENING.* The refurbishment of the venue for the Magical Innovation Centre is now complete! To celebrate, the Mother of Witches is hosting a grand opening party at the centre. The party is open to all who are interested to see this next step in the advancement of magic in London. Fae are strictly forbidden.
23rd April – LONDON MARATHON. One of the most popular sporting events in London, more than 30,000 people take part in the London marathon and there are always at least a few supernatural types among them. See if you can spot the cheaters.
23rd April – ST GEORGE'S DAY. The patron saint of England, legend has it that St George slew a dragon. Consequently, both fae and shapeshifters congregate at their local dragon-themed pub to raise a toast in honour of the fallen dragon. Someone has to mourn the poor creature, after all.
26th April – BAD END FAE. Remember the missing fae from last month? This date marks your last chance to save them. If they aren't rescued in time, Nemed and Mrs. Lotus (along with a few other minor fae) will both die.
*There will be a mod-posted log for this event.
Plots
The following prompts are up for grabs this month:
1) There is a bounty on a rogue fae. A succubus has been seducing people and draining their energy. Reward: £1200
2) A meta human causes a stir by jumping off Big Ben and surviving the fall, to the delight of the world's media. It's being passed off as a stunt, but in the furore, the meta human seems to have disappeared.
3) The waxworks at Madame Tussauds are coming to life at night. They seem to be searching for something... – Claimed by Andie
4) There are vampire rabbits on Hampstead Heath. No one knows how this happened, but if they aren't stopped soon they could decimate the local wildlife.

LET'S TALK ABOUT THE FAE
As I recall, Finnick was looking into the case of Mrs. Lotus and Eames hired Sirius to look into Nemed (though since his player dropped I'm not sure where that leaves things.) I know Evie was also planning to look into stuff, though I'm not sure if that was just one of them or both? With them and less notable fae going missing however, Eames' primary concern is preserving what safety he can until they can solve the Samantha Situation. Which brings me to my next point.
Croydon III: I'm sick of Croydon
During the coming week, the fae are going to take Croydon from Daybreak. Eames wants it to be a quick and quiet affair; essentially using shock troops to push the witches out quickly so they can focus on removing their wards and securing the area.
General Housekeeping
The fae have typically been relatively lackadaisical with regards to rules and such within their territories, but that's gonna start changing. There will be patrols, especially where they border Daybreak and East End territories (though they're keeping an eye on you too, Islington,) not actively preventing any non-fae coming into the area but there is a definite air of "you're not welcome here" about.
Witches, especially, will be watched intensely and warned off against using their magic.

also your favorite witch is a little irritated with all this being watched, gosh. raised by fae, gets no respect.

Incidentally, what do you want to do when you gatecrash the Magical Innovation Centre party? It's where the captive fae are being held, so you've got a number of options:
1) Just scope out the place but don't take any action at the party itself.
2) Sneak in to rescue the captive fae
3) Try to kill Samantha. (I don't want her to die yet, let's save that for another time.) Or capture her perhaps, if you can think of a reason to keep her alive.
Of course Eames won't be able to do all that alone, so if you want to go big you'll need some help!

Would it work best for Evie and Sirius to investigate Nemed and then report back to Eames? I can set up a log or something?
no subject
That works for me if it's good for you and Shea! I know literally nothing about what the sitch with these missing fae is, so if you wanted to set up a log and suchforth that'd be a+

MRS LOTUS SEARCH PARTY (OF ONE)
Basically Finnick has determined that the best course of action wrt this Samantha business is to go after the captured fae, both to save the poor things and to cut off a source of power for the witches, and he's going to start with Mrs. Lotus. His course of action will be as follows and if you want a character involved with any part of the process let me know!
• He'll start with a search of Mrs. Lotus' shop. According to Word of Mod it looks like it's been packed up in a hurry and it's locked with an iron bolt, but Finnick will be smashing the window in the dead of night and fixing it up with magic after he's done. He'll talk to the owners of the neighbouring shops about regular customers, recent confrontations, etc, and I've also been informed he will be able to sense that she was summoned directly from her shop but he won't be able to sense where she ended up. I'm fine with someone interacting with him at any stage of this, as long as it doesn't prevent him from getting the info he needs for the next step!
• Then he'll start with her social circle, glamouring and flirting his way to more information if he needs to. It's gonna take a few days but the gist is that she was planning to leave because tensions were rising, but since Finnick's not going to be satisfied with that he'll keep questioning until he gets the name of a Daybreak friend of hers. Finnick thinks all witches are trash so he will assume this witch (Daisy Connell) had something to do with it if she didn't summon Mrs. Lotus herself. When I put up a log I'll have an OTA prompt for this part but if you want a specific interaction hmu!
• He'll spend a few more days trying to track down Daisy, and this is where things are more up in the air. The plan he will develop (based on how strong it turns out this witch is, how accessible she is to get alone, etc) will be to glamour and trick her into being alone with him somewhere so he can bring her into the Other Realm and start interrogating her there. That'll have to change if Daisy is constantly surrounded by other witches or is particularly powerful herself, and obviously there's always a chance she won't talk, but in an ideal situation that's what Finnick will do. If she has disappeared or is otherwise inaccessible he'll probably go after another Daybreak witch who knows her and do the same thing.
• If he gets the information he needs he will likely report back to Eames and start trying to come up with ways to get into the Innovation Centre. Seems like the place is locked up pretty tight and Finnick definitely isn't strong enough to bust his way in so in that case he'll probably wait for Eames to case the joint at the grand opening and go from there. If he interrogates any more witches it'll be very cautious but he'll be on the lookout for any opportunities to get in there long enough to free the fae and get out.
I think that's it! If anyone has any feedback or would like to help him or anything drop me a comment or w/e and we can get this underway!

i know finnick is the maddest little madmad when it comes to wolves rn bbbut ghoul has been putting out feelers by telling evie (since vampires were allied with fae in bromley) that he is not ok with things as they stand now, and he is willing to work as as an anonymous source if anybody needs info or deets on things from his side of the line... he's kind of in a sticky situation with katherine/samantha/assholemogget but he will do his best to gently snoop and do what he can. and finnick is welcome to the same offer if you would like them to run in to each other!
no subject
On the plus side Daisy does know about the Innovation Centre because she's reporting on it and has exclusive access. She'll be able to tell Finnick that the captured fae are being taken there. Finnick should be able to get that out of her fairly easily.
After that it's up to Finnick what he does with her, but as soon as she's back in the mortal realm Daisy will be looking for a chance to call her familiar and after that it won't be long before a rescue party comes to find her.
no subject
I'm throwing up the log now and I'll leave out the details of that part since there's not much to interact with there but it'd be good to know if he has to flee for a while after he tracks her down and questions her!

With the log for MIC coming up soon, would you like to plan a possible rescue? At this point, Lillian is pretty much eager to get out from where she is and will jump at any chance to escape. Not only for her life but for others' lives since she will attempt to blow the whistle of what the heck is happening to her and others.
