October 2016 Plotting Post
October 2016
Welcome to your October plotting post! You can make use of the information here to plot what your character will be doing in the next month. October is of course a supernatural-themed month, and there will be the chance to celebrate Halloween in the upcoming test drive meme. Additionally, the bimonthly How's My Driving post will be coming up mid-month, so look out for that.
Remember, the clocks also go back on 30th October! The game timezone will revert back to GMT.
Check out the calendar for a quick summary of when things are happening. You can also check the game timeline to see what has happened in the game so far.
Factions
It's official: Circle Midnight has been eliminated from the game. Following the Redbright Institute's takeover of Enfield, Circle Midnight leaders were captured and exiled from the city. Those once affiliated with Circle Midnight have either fled, moved to another faction or gone into hiding.
The Redbright Institute and Hillingdon Clan have strengthened their ties, with Hillingdon agreeing to support Redbright in their fight against the Islington Nest, in return for taking over the territory of Hounslow.
Meanwhile Raymond Harris, the leader of the Islington Nest, is still at large. Annoyed at the Seelie/Unseelie Court rejecting his offer of an alliance and determined to prove that vampires are the supreme species, this month Raymond will order a fae hunt, capturing fae to extract their blood in time for Halloween. He's planning a rave the likes of which London has never seen.
With Samhain approaching, magical power in London reaches its height at the end of this month, which means that witches are at the top of their game – but so are the fae. The barrier between the two realms is at its thinnest during Samhain, which makes mortals easy pickings for the mischievous Unseelie. Ghosts are also at their most visible, even if they don't want to be.
Territories
The Redbright Institute have taken Enfield from Circle Midnight, eliminating them from the game. At the same time they lost the territory of Hounslow via negotiations with the Hillingdon Clan who argued that they needed to expand in order to effectively fight off the vampire threat. Circle Daybreak is the most powerful faction in the city, with eight territories. See the Territories page for more information.
If your faction would like to claim a new territory, please comment to the appropriate thread. Players will then have three days from the date and time of the initial claim to sign up for the conflict. Anyone can sign up, but please only volunteer your character if they are a member of a faction involved in the conflict or they have IC reasons to actively help out. Please do not volunteer if you won't be able to participate in the plot.
If the outcome of the conflict is not already guaranteed, I will then look at the sign-ups list to calculate which faction will emerge victorious. It is up to players to plan and play out the actual conflict itself. If you comment to claim a territory, then you should also take the lead in planning and organizing it.

The following prompts are up for grabs this month:
About plots and events
• You may claim one plot prompt per month.
• You can also run your own plots based on the events listed above, or create your own.
• If you claim a plot, then you also volunteer to take the lead OOCly i.e. planning and organizing with other players, deciding on the outcome, setting a timeline etc.
• Once you have claimed a plot, you should introduce it ICly within the next month.
• Plots may not be entirely handwaved. You may handwave some of the plot, but you should play out at least part of it.
• Some plots will require NPCs as well as player characters to fill different roles. Please feel free to make up and play the NPCs yourselves.
• Plots are generally open-ended enough that you can make them big or small. It is up to the player who claims the plot to decide how they would like to handle it. You may want to do open sign-ups for your plot and specify whether there is a limit on how many characters can participate.
• Plots can also be self-contained or form part of an ongoing storyline. Again, it is your choice on how you would like to handle it.
• Please feel free to integrate plots and events or join plots up where appropriate. For example, if you claim a plot that involves a murder, why not choose an event during which the murder could happen? As long as the mod and other players are aware of your plans, I'm happy to accommodate.
• Do not ask the mod to explain what the plot is and what your character should do or discover. That is up to you. These plot ideas are just that, ideas, and it is up to you to run with them and decide how and why these events are happening, what your characters are going to do about it, and what the consequences will be.
• You may ask the mod questions pertaining to game mythology, to check that what you are planning to do makes sense within the game world.
• This list is not meant to be limiting in any way! Player plots are also very welcome.
• If you have an idea for a player plot, please feel free to comment here and see if there is any interest. Run it by the mod first if you're unsure of anything.

Minions
The following lucky minions will be promoted this month:
Bonnie Crawford | Werewolf, East End Pack | Level 1These minions will decide to leave town this month:
‣ A born werewolf who is proud of her heritage and passionate about improving werewolves' standing in the city.
Diego Mendoza | Vampire, Islington Nest | Level 1
‣ An extremely lazy vampire who spends most of his time sleeping the day away. He's the subject of a lot of mockery, but doesn't seem to care.
Ban Sidhe | Human, Unseelie Court | Level 1
‣ Not a banshee. Not even a fae. They can't get rid of her.
Tierney | Fae, Unseelie Court | Level 1
‣ A sprite whose approach to dealing with humans is basically racketeering: wrecking things until they offer them something to stop.
Cedric Phillips | Werewolf, East End Pack | Level 1And these less fortunate minions will sadly die this month:
‣ A creepy loner.
Tony Summers | Human, Islington Nest | Level 1
‣ A former drug addict who got clean when he found getting bitten by vampires was a better high.
Gener Valenzuela | Fae, Seelie Court | Level 2
‣ A very conventional fae who doesn't like change. Very dependable.
Aeronwy Cadwalader | Fae, Unseelie Court | Level 2
‣ An ancient siren whose voice is powerful and haunting.
Fiona Jackson | Human, Islington Nest | Level 1Factions may decide how and when their minions die, leave town or receive a promotion. Feel free to work these developments into any of this month's plots.
‣ A former popular bloodbag, she expected to be turned into a vampire. That never happened, and with her youth faded, the now fortysomething has little influence in the nest.
Drops
The following characters will be leaving this month:
Kyle Sutton | Hillingdon Clan |Their faction may decide the exact details of how characters leave and incorporate their exit into their plots if they wish.akillersmile | Leaves town 2/10/16
Events
13th October – YOUR ALTERNATIVE VIEWS.* In an effort to combat declining sales and increasing irrelevancy in the age of the internet, Alternative Views News have decided to publish a special supplement to their weekly tabloid Worldly Weirdness Weekly. This special issue will be called Your Alternative Views and its content will be entirely comprised of articles written by the general supernatural community. Every contributor whose article is published will be entered into a prize draw to win a special mystery prize. Look out for an OOC post with more details soon.
16th October – FULL MOON. Werewolves, it's that time of the month! This is the nearest full moon to Samhain, and as such is particularly potent. The chances of transformed wolves losing control on this night are greater than at any other time of the year, so be careful. Even a seasoned wolf can fall prey to their animal instincts.
16th-30th October – CATCH A FAE. It's time for a fae hunt! Islington Nest leader Raymond Harris is planning a Halloween rave where fae blood will be the drink of choice. He is therefore encouraging his followers to capture any fae who stray into Islington territory in order to extract their blood. Whether the captured fae die or are released after being drained is of no consequence.
22nd-30th October – SCHOOL HOLIDAY. School's out! Sadly, the first day back is the day of Samhain so that won't be much fun for the kids. Still, given what the vampires are planning, it might be best to keep children indoors.
31st October – SAMHAIN.** Better known as Halloween, a time when all manner of ghosts and demons come out to play and the human population embrace it like so much entertainment. The levels of magic in the city are at their highest today thanks to the thinning of the barrier between the mortal realm and the Other Realm, which means increased activity from fae and ghosts alike. Even less magical types like vampires, werewolves and shapeshifters will feel the change in atmosphere. Their instincts will be keener, their lust for blood greater. For witches, of course, it's the ideal time to reach out and commune with fae, ghosts and other spirits. Watch out for the vampire raves popping up in Islington Nest territory. The vampires will be getting drunk on fae blood and it's not a pretty sight.
*There will be a mod-posted log for this event.
**This event will be incorporated into this month's test drive meme.
Plots
The following prompts are up for grabs this month:
1) There is a bounty on a rogue shapeshifter who made an assassination attempt on their own clan leader. Reward: £1000
2) Someone is digging up the graves of werewolves in order to steal their teeth and extract the venom.
3) A ghost from the Cross Bones Graveyard has awoken to possess an unsuspecting visitor.
4) A group of Unseelie have decided to go trick-or-treating, with unfortunate consequences.

He mostly spends time around Hillingdon House, but will probably spread into Hounslow since they own that territory now.

Gently encourages a coup
I just wanna have a rundown of where we're all at, especially as Eames is gonna be even more intent to give that man a painful and messy death with the stuff he's pulling this month. So!
He's spoken to JC to make sure he's on board with being the new head of Islington after this horrible interim, and sought out Evie's help and spoken to Finnick briefly about it. I believe there were plans to also bring Natasha, Arthur and Cooper on board?
How we doing y'all? Any ideas on how we wanna proceed?

But once JC is really in position? She'll do whatever she can to help take Harris out.

JC is definitely working his way to being in the right position -- I need to submit AC to know for certain but I think OOCLY he is technically one territory claim and six points away from being able to do this! He just needs those things before he is in position. I was thinking of him trying for Southwark again -- hopefully to win it this time! He would still be hesitant on a super violent approach there bc he definitely is trying to sell himself as the kinder, gentler, less batshit leader in Islington. JC's prowess is all through subtlety and careful negotiation.
I'm thinking of putting that up at the beginning of the month to hopefully milk comments out of it and everything else and if all goes well he SHOULD be in position at the end of the month to be able to do this thing. I would really appreciate your help on this though you guys as I'm not sure quite how to approach the actual plot of everything going down and I would love for everyone to be involved that can be! PLEASE don't hesitate to ask any questions or make any suggestions on that front!

Re: Gently encourages a coup
Jean-Claude/Southwark/The Coup
THAT IS THE PLAN AT LEAST. Which means that all of this is building up to October 31st and the vampire raves planned for that day. Jean-Claude needs to know who his allies are, both within Islington and the community at large, and he will be doing his best to reach out to them and determine how they might be able to aid him in this, the final hour. He is willing to make negotiations, at that.
Those are the basics of how it's going to go down -- obviously JC isn't the only one involved, and that's where I'd love to have your help in the planning as well. How would your character be involved? How would you WANT them to be involved? Are they going to help or hinder? JC has basically decided that Harris is too dangerous to live, and none of the vampires that support him can be trusted to change their loyalties so quickly. He will probably give them a choice, to leave or to die. Does your character have a problem with that?
LET ME KNOW YOUR THOUGHTS!!!
Re: Jean-Claude/Southwark/The Coup
both are more than willing to be involved but I particularly want Evie to be part of this. This is what she does, after all.
She would want less of a kill all dissenters and more of a trial sort of system. I'm at work so this is short and sweet but I'm around all day tomorrow for discussions

Medium Live!
The big question is, though, are her gifts real?
If they are, she's breaking the statute of secrecy in a big way.
It's time to find out!
Lancelot will be leading an investigation into Sarah Silverton funded by the night council. It will need investigators to follow her team a little, people who can actually sense magic, people who can see ghosts, etc! There's definitely a little bit of a sham going on here, but there's definitely something a little bit supernatural too....
INVESTIGATORS
Lancelot also would like the rest of her team investigated a little. Have they worked with famous psychics before? What's their job? Are they 'spooky light effect manager?'
He will emphasise that they need to not break the statute of secrecy while investigating someone who might be doing just that. As far as they're concerned all these guys might just be normal humans.
He'll ALSO point out that Sarah is a celebrity and thus has a lot if money, influence and muscle. Be careful!
