Happy birthday!
Did you know that Sylvia Redbright is turning 59 tomorrow? Well, if you didn't before, you will now because Sylvia's PA will send out an email announcement to all members of the Redbright Institute, Night Council, Circle Daybreak and Circle Midnight today. Anyone not in those factions, it's likely that word on the grapevine will spread quickly.
Sylvia's Birthday Message
Dear All,
A message from Sylvia Redbright
On 4th December 2015, I will be celebrating my 59th birthday. In honour of that occasion, I would like to give a little something back to the community. As a gesture of peace and good will, everyone who sends me a birthday gift this month will receive a gift of equal or greater value in return. Alternatively, you can pledge a small donation to a charity of your choice and I will match that donation.*
Gifts should be addressed to Sylvia Redbright at the Redbright Institute in Hanwell, Ealing. Gifts can include a message with your name or be sent anonymously. You will receive a return gift whether or not you include your name and address. All gifts will be independently vetted before being passed on to me.
Thank you for considering taking part in this birthday exchange, and I hope that as we enter the holiday season, December will be a time of peace and harmony for all supernatural communities.

Questions
What if my character wants to send a prank gift or even something that could jeopardize Sylvia's life?
Prank gifts are fine! Just be aware, if you prank Sylvia, you will get the same in return. Anything more dangerous or malicious in nature (e.g. poisoned wine) will be found by the people vetting the gifts and should never reach Sylvia. She will be notified of any attempts on her life and she will take steps to identify the culprit and stop them, so please think carefully and discuss with me first if you want to go down this route.
Can my character send a rude message to Sylvia?
Yes. It will put you on her shit list, but yes.
If my character sends a gift anonymously, how can they get something in return?
Through the amazing power of magic. Sylvia's team will use a location spell on all of the gifts sent to her that allows them to track the item to its source, and therefore send an item in return. If the gift is not signed, they will not know who sent it, only where it came from. Incidentally, this would also give them a lead on any malicious gifts. Characters who are really determined to be anonymous and have the ability to magically prevent their gift being tracked may do so, but in that case they won't receive a return gift.
Can I be on Sylvia's team?
Yes! If you're a witch or a trusted member of one of Sylvia's factions, then you can join the team that processes the gifts and sends items in return if you like. You could also report to Sylvia of any possible threats to her life.
I'm in Circle Midnight, why the heck am I receiving a personalized message from Sylvia?
Because Sylvia is the Mother of all witches, even you, and she hopes you will come to your senses soon. Also, she has your contact details and she knows where you live.
It'll be Christmas soon, why isn't this a Christmas gift exchange?
Sylvia is more important than Christmas, obviously. But do feel free to send her a Christmas present too.
Will there be a log for this?
