September 2016 Plotting Post
September 2016
Welcome to your September plotting post! You can make use of the information here to plot what your character will be doing in the next month. This month will see a major change to the structure of the game: the elimination of Circle Midnight. Characters currently in Circle Midnight will be moved over to other factions (no need to spend any activity points). Read on to find out how it's all going down!
Check out the calendar for a quick summary of when things are happening. You can also check the game timeline to see what has happened in the game so far.
Factions
At the end of August, the Night Council will announce that their empty seat has been filled by none other than Diphylleia "Dee" Absin, a High Priestess of Circle Daybreak. She once held the seat of Vice President and will now become Treasurer, taking on responsibility for the Night Council's finances.
Meanwhile, the Islington Nest has broken away from Night Council law and continues to throw its weight around, taking over Greenwich and even kidnapping the Night Council's Chief Guardian. Now it has formally declared an alliance with Circle Midnight, with Abigail Widdowson joining Raymond Harris's fledgling rival Night Council. The Seelie/Unseelie Court were also invited to join, but chose to reject Raymond's offer.
The Redbright Institute and Hillingdon Clan continue their work to defend against the vampire threat and this month will agree to support each other in fighting the Islington Nest, with Redbright agreeing to allow Hillingdon to expand its territory in order to better prepare themselves for the battle ahead.
For almost a year, Circle Midnight and the Redbright Institute have maintained a non-aggression pact which has allowed Circle Midnight to maintain its presence in Enfield. This month will see that deal come to an end. Determined to stamp out any support that Raymond might have before it can take root, Sylvia Redbright will order an attack on Enfield with the aim of destroying Circle Midnight once and for all. By mid-month, Abigail Widdowson and key Midnight witches will be captured and exiled from the city. By the end of the month, Circle Midnight will be effectively out of the political game, forcing any Midnight witches who remain to ally themselves with another faction for their own safety.
Finally, the power of the Seelie Court is also waning as the Unseelie Court prepares for war. It will be in this month at the autumn equinox that the balance is finally tipped and the Unseelie Court take their rightful place as rulers north of the river.
Territories
The Islington Nest have taken Greenwich from the East End Pack, putting the two factions on equal terms. Circle Daybreak is the most powerful faction in the city, with eight territories. See the Territories page for more information.
If your faction would like to claim a new territory, please comment to the appropriate thread. Players will then have three days from the date and time of the initial claim to sign up for the conflict. Anyone can sign up, but please only volunteer your character if they are a member of a faction involved in the conflict or they have IC reasons to actively help out. Please do not volunteer if you won't be able to participate in the plot.
If the outcome of the conflict is not already guaranteed, I will then look at the sign-ups list to calculate which faction will emerge victorious. It is up to players to plan and play out the actual conflict itself. If you comment to claim a territory, then you should also take the lead in planning and organizing it.

About plots and events
• You may claim one plot prompt per month.
• You can also run your own plots based on the events listed above, or create your own.
• If you claim a plot, then you also volunteer to take the lead OOCly i.e. planning and organizing with other players, deciding on the outcome, setting a timeline etc.
• Once you have claimed a plot, you should introduce it ICly within the next month.
• Plots may not be entirely handwaved. You may handwave some of the plot, but you should play out at least part of it.
• Some plots will require NPCs as well as player characters to fill different roles. Please feel free to make up and play the NPCs yourselves.
• Plots are generally open-ended enough that you can make them big or small. It is up to the player who claims the plot to decide how they would like to handle it. You may want to do open sign-ups for your plot and specify whether there is a limit on how many characters can participate.
• Plots can also be self-contained or form part of an ongoing storyline. Again, it is your choice on how you would like to handle it.
• Please feel free to integrate plots and events or join plots up where appropriate. For example, if you claim a plot that involves a murder, why not choose an event during which the murder could happen? As long as the mod and other players are aware of your plans, I'm happy to accommodate.
• Do not ask the mod to explain what the plot is and what your character should do or discover. That is up to you. These plot ideas are just that, ideas, and it is up to you to run with them and decide how and why these events are happening, what your characters are going to do about it, and what the consequences will be.
• You may ask the mod questions pertaining to game mythology, to check that what you are planning to do makes sense within the game world.
• This list is not meant to be limiting in any way! Player plots are also very welcome.
• If you have an idea for a player plot, please feel free to comment here and see if there is any interest. Run it by the mod first if you're unsure of anything.

Minions
The following lucky minions will be promoted this month:
Edwin Lloyd | Vampire, Islington Nest | Level 1These minions will decide to leave town this month:
‣ A banker who's managed Islington Nest's assets since the 1830s. Nobody really likes him, but they keep him around because they can't be bothered to learn how to do it themselves.
Sara McKinnon | Fae, Unseelie Court | Level 1
‣ A young and temperamental kelpie. She'll fight anyone at any time in any place.
Henry Winter | Witch, Circle Midnight | Level 1And these less fortunate minions will sadly die this month:
‣ An academically gifted young man more interested in the esoteric than current affairs.
Danny Álvaro | Werewolf, East End Pack | Level 1
‣ A struggling artist turned three years ago. Has never sold a single one of his hundreds of wolf-themed paintings.
Cynthia Porter | Human, Seelie Court | Level 2
‣ The nerdy girl everyone always made fun of. She made a bargain of servitude in exchange for the punishment of her tormentors.
Lydia Samuels | Vampire, Islington Nest | Level 2Factions may decide how and when their minions die, leave town or receive a promotion. Feel free to work these developments into any of this month's plots.
‣ A thoroughly modern flapper girl who likes to party all night and occasionally drain her boyfriends of more than just their cash. In the peak of her youth, she sought out a vampire to turn her so that she could keep her physique for her dancing for the rest of time.
Charles Spears | Vampire, Islington Nest | Level 1
‣ A former Victorian businessman, Charles has managed to roll with the times in every regard except his patterns of speech. Possibly the only person in all of London to know what a rain napper is or to have heard of the phrase 'belly timber', never mind using it.
Drops
The following characters will be leaving this month:
Joscelin FitzThomas de Lisle | Islington Nest |Their faction may decide the exact details of how characters leave and incorporate their exit into their plots if they wish.dredefulchilde | Left town 27/8/16
Events
2nd-30th September – MIDNIGHT'S DEMISE. The end has come for Circle Midnight, starting with losing their territory in Enfield. Their leader Abigail Widdowson will be captured and exiled, and Guardians will be on the hunt for other Midnight covens to drive out of the city. They have gathered a lot of intelligence on Circle Midnight, helped by the dark magic purge in January, and are well-placed to root them out.
5th September – SCHOOL YEAR BEGINS. Sorry, kids, the holidays are over. New year, new term... maybe even new teachers or classmates. Have fun.
16th September – FULL MOON / THE EXILED.* It's that time of the month for werewolves, but as night falls the captured Midnight witches will be paraded through the site of the traditional Harvest Festival, to be formally cast out by the witches of London. Spectators are allowed, but there is an anti-vampire barrier to prevent any vampires from entering the site without invitation.
22nd September – MABON (AUTUMN EQUINOX). The autumn equinox represents the balance between summer and winter, and thus the Seelie and Unseelie Courts find themselves equally matched. As darkness falls, the Unseelie will muster their forces to drive out the Seelie north of the river. They will succeed and the balance of power in the Other Realm will be reversed – a sign that winter will soon take hold. This is also an important time for witches who are giving thanks for the harvest. It is traditional to invite guests into one's home for a celebratory meal. However, witches who perform dark magic may find a different occupation: the changeover of seasons is the perfect time to summon the fae from either Court, whose power is at an equal but manageable ebb.
25th September – NIGHT'S PARDON. Every so often, the Night Council agrees to offer pardons to convicted or wanted criminals, wiping the slate clean to give them a new start in life. Those asking to be pardoned must be accompanied by a sponsor who is an upstanding member of the community with a clean record. The sponsor will advocate on the part of the condemned, and will be held accountable if the condemned commits another offence. Needless to say, it's unlikely that any pardons will be granted to those in Circle Midnight or the Islington Nest. Nb. The Night Council can only pardon crimes committed in the UK.
*There will be a mod-posted log for these events.
Plots
The following prompts are up for grabs this month:
1) Missing person alert. A shapeshifter has gone missing. They have been kidnapped by a travelling circus. Reward: £600
2) A magical object is discovered which causes dreams to come true. Actual dreams.
3) You kill a witch and are cursed with hallucinations of your loved ones dead and blood on your hands.
4) You discover that you have your own online fan club. They seem very enthusiastic... – Claimed by Autumn

ENFIELD TERRITORY CLAIM
Here's the rough plan!
7th-8th September
This will be a surprise attack. The aim is to capture Abigail and key allies in Enfield. Abigail will be tailed and then arrested outside her home. Sylvia will order Geap Manor (Abby's home) to be burned down.
9th-10th September
This will be the claim proper. If Redbright win, the Outreach team will secure the area and turf out/arrest any remaining Midnight witches who refuse to play by the new rules. If Redbright lose, this is probably where it gets messy and they will be forced to call a retreat.
Sylvia won't actually go to Enfield herself, this will all be done by the Redbright forces and trusted allies. Will you help? Hinder? Stake a counter claim? Let's talk about it here!

Anyway. If Sylvia instructed Lance to go, he would go help/aid! he is Daybreak officially however and she is doing this through Redbright. I think he would consider it kind of 'not his business' off his own back, because although he stands the reasoning and does think Abigail is making a Huge Mistake he would rather stay neutral in the witch v witch conflict.
HOWEVER! If you think Sylvia would ask him about it at all/tell him about it, he might go with the intention of helping while ensuring it is done NEATLY and without any additional unnecessary damage. He does as he's told, in general!
no subject
Whatever gave you that impression? No, she's ordering the house to be burned down because it's occupied by a fae which makes it unsafe! Nothing to do with hating Abigail and wanting to destroy everything she holds dear, nope.
Re: Lancelot, I think Sylvia would keep this one to Redbright officially so while he would be informed that it's happening, she wouldn't order him to help. I don't think she'd want Abigail to meet a friendly face when she's being captured, so if anything she'd order Lancelot to go hunt down some Midnight covens after the claim has happened. He's a little bit too sympathetic with the Midnight witches for her liking.
Although he is a good dog, she does also value him for his diplomatic skills so I wonder if it might work better to bring Lancelot in to the Hounslow claim negotiation. He could be there as independent adjudicator/bodyguard, what do you think?
no subject
And, not that Sylvia would ever think of this at all, but Faolan does seem to like Lancelot a lot so it's possible his standing around there might keep Faolan playing nice.

But it works! And Lancelot just wants EVERYONE TO BE FRIENDS, so he pretty much would sit there quietly willing Faolan to just agree to help! He doesn't even like vampires! Faolan don't be so suspicious Sylvia is a nice motherly lady.
no subject
See, this is why Lancelot would be perfect for that. Tell Faolan to stop being suspicious and grumpy! Sylvia only wants what's best for the city.

Natasha and/or Nightingale could be the ones to capture Abigail and report back to Sylvia if you like! She won't be physically present herself, but she's expecting the team to contact her. What do you think?

I can put up a response later today to thread out the report? o7

I included a header for the East End Pack counter attack, but figured I'd leave that one up to you to decide on the details. Does that look okay?

He will be around to help and basically follow whatever orders he is given. For the most part he tries to lay low with Redbright bc he doesn't want to let any of his Secrets get out
