June 2016 Plotting Post

June 2016
Welcome to your June plotting post! You can make use of the information here to plot what your character will be doing in the next month.

This month will see the aftermath of the Night Council elections and the assassination of the head of the Islington Nest, as each faction tries to work out their next move. The Elites post has the updated list of Representatives, including two new faces.

Last time we had an How's My Driving post, you voted to keep HMD mandatory and to change the schedule so that HMD is posted every two months instead of every three months. That means the next HMD will be posted in the middle of this month. Finally, a new test drive meme will be posted later in the month. Check out the calendar for a quick summary of when things are happening.

Factions
Two major events in the past month have shaken up the structure of the Night Council. Firstly, the Night Council elections saw newcomer Nora Shannon win the Witch Representative seat from incumbent candidate Gilbert Norrell. Though Norrell protested with accusations of vote rigging, no such evidence was uncovered.

(Was the vote rigged? Yes, yes it was.)

Secondly, tensions have been rising between the Islington Nest and East End Pack since the election where vampires occupied the East End polling station in an effort to intimidate the local werewolves and discourage them from voting. Far more serious was the wolf hunt that took place during the full moon in May, ordered by Millicent herself.

Several factions were troubled by the Islington Nest's aggressive behaviour and just as Circle Daybreak stepped in to take over an Islington territory, so too a werewolf from the East End Pack decided to act. On 28th May, Alexandra Udinov assassinated Millicent, leader of the Islington Nest. Some suspect that she had help from vampires within the nest, not all of whom were fond of Millicent, but many other vampires see this as an outright declaration of war.

Now a new leader of the Islington Nest has emerged to take his place as Vampire Representative for the Night Council. Raymond Harris is young (for a vampire), brutish and ambitious. With his first act as leader being to demand Alex's head on a platter, it's clear that the conflict between vampires and werewolves is set to continue.

Taking over at the beginning of June, he will immediately declare the following changes to the Islington Nest:

• First thing to go would be the rule of not being able to feed on the locals. Islington vampires can eat who they like, when they like.
• The rule forbidding the turning of child vampires will be abolished.
• Anyone who kills twelve or more werewolves or shapeshifters will receive an instant promotion, giving motivation for the carnage he wishes to see happen.

Better the devil you know, eh? Needless to say, many of London's inhabitants are worried and fearful about these developments and what they could mean for the supernatural community at large.

Territories
The East End Pack won Havering from the Seelie/Unseelie Court, fortifying their stronghold in the north east of the city. Meanwhile Circle Daybreak responded to the aggressive behaviour of the Islington Nest by taking Southwark, securing the safety of witches in that borough.

Circle Daybreak is the most powerful faction in the city, with eight territories. See the Territories page for more information.

If your faction would like to claim a new territory, please comment to the appropriate thread. Players will then have three days from the date and time of the initial claim to sign up for the conflict. Anyone can sign up, but please only volunteer your character if they are a member of a faction involved in the conflict or they have IC reasons to actively help out. Please do not volunteer if you won't be able to participate in the plot.

If the outcome of the conflict is not already guaranteed, I will then look at the sign-ups list to calculate which faction will emerge victorious. It is up to players to plan and play out the actual conflict itself. If you comment to claim a territory, then you should also take the lead in planning and organizing it.

Minions
The following lucky minions will be promoted this month:
Jeremy Berger | Werewolf, East End Pack | Level 1
‣ Pessimistic. Strives to live in accordance with Night Council law and observe instead of act.

Maria Rivera | Meta Human, Hillingdon Clan | Level 1
‣ A meta human with incredible immunity to cold who discovered this upon getting locked in a meat freezer at her part time job. After developing a distressing reputation she found and joined Hillingdon to be near people who didn't give her sideways stares.

These minions will decide to leave town this month:
Christine Sexton | Werewolf, East End Pack | Level 2
‣ Viciously anti-vampire and very protective of the three blocks in her neighbourhood she considers hers.

Gary Callahan | Human, Hillingdon Clan | Level 1
‣ Hot-headed hunter who went home with the wrong woman one night and wound up being the butt of a rather devious fae curse. Since then he's been tremendously outspoken of his dislike of the fae, though the nature of the curse itself remains a mystery.

David Jones | Meta Human, Hillingdon Clan | Level 1
‣ A young father of two with the unfortunate natural tendency to disrupt electrical devices. He has been politely asked to stay away from the office areas in Hillingdon House. And the kitchen. In fact it has been suggested he stay to one area of the house, particularly after dark.
Factions may decide how and when their minions die, leave town or receive a promotion. Feel free to work these developments into any of this month's plots.

Drops
The following characters will be leaving this month:
Effy Stonem | Unseelie Court | [personal profile] itsconceptual | Left town 19/05/16
Gaby Teller | Redbright Institute | [personal profile] spionin | Leaves town 01/06/16
Their faction may decide the exact details of how characters leave and incorporate their exit into their plots if they wish.

Events
3rd June-1st July – VAMPIRE DEFENCE CLASSES. In response to the increased vampire aggression across the city, the Redbright Institute is hosting a series of self-defence classes open to the public to help people protect themselves from vampire attacks. These are held every Friday evening starting from 3rd June and finishing 1st July.

20th June – LITHA / FULL MOON. It's midsummer, the longest day of the year, and a time of celebration for witches, who perform rites and enchantments to draw their power from the sun. Tonight is a special midsummer because it's also a full moon, meaning that witches will perform both day and night rituals to boost their coven's power. For those covens who are friendly with werewolves, it is the ideal time to make a pact with a werewolf to become a witch's familiar. Alternatively, witches may use witch blood to represent the sun and wolf blood to represent the moon to help them cast highly potent spells.

Midsummer is also a time of feasting for the Seelie Court. The Seelie king has commanded that his minions capture a fine specimen of a werewolf to be put on display at the Litha feast. Assuming the wolf doesn't break free from its cage, no harm will be done.

Plots
The following prompts are up for grabs this month:
1) There is a bounty on a rogue werewolf. Alexandra Udinov has been accused of murdering Millicent, the leader of the Islington Nest. The Night Council want her alive to be brought to justice. Reward: £10,000 and a favour from the new leader of the Islington Nest. – Claimed by Shade
2) A human has come into possession of a cursed ring, which is driving them mad. It causes a Jekyll-and-Hyde effect, inducing violent behaviour. The ring will curse anyone who touches it.
3) You discover a fae trapped in a dusty old bottle. Upon its release, the fae is compelled to grant one wish. But after that it may want revenge...
4) A pushy parent is looking for a magical solution to their child's struggles at school. With exams coming up, they'll do anything to ensure their child gets the right grades.

About plots and events
• You may claim one plot prompt per month.
• You can also run your own plots based on the events listed above, or create your own.
• If you claim a plot, then you also volunteer to take the lead OOCly i.e. planning and organizing with other players, deciding on the outcome, setting a timeline etc.
• Once you have claimed a plot, you should introduce it ICly within the next month.
• Plots may not be entirely handwaved. You may handwave some of the plot, but you should play out at least part of it.
• Some plots will require NPCs as well as player characters to fill different roles. Please feel free to make up and play the NPCs yourselves.
• Plots are generally open-ended enough that you can make them big or small. It is up to the player who claims the plot to decide how they would like to handle it. You may want to do open sign-ups for your plot and specify whether there is a limit on how many characters can participate.
• Plots can also be self-contained or form part of an ongoing storyline. Again, it is your choice on how you would like to handle it.
• Please feel free to integrate plots and events or join plots up where appropriate. For example, if you claim a plot that involves a murder, why not choose an event during which the murder could happen? As long as the mod and other players are aware of your plans, I'm happy to accommodate.
Do not ask the mod to explain what the plot is and what your character should do or discover. That is up to you. These plot ideas are just that, ideas, and it is up to you to run with them and decide how and why these events are happening, what your characters are going to do about it, and what the consequences will be.
• You may ask the mod questions pertaining to game mythology, to check that what you are planning to do makes sense within the game world.
This list is not meant to be limiting in any way! Player plots are also very welcome.
• If you have an idea for a player plot, please feel free to comment here and see if there is any interest. Run it by the mod first if you're unsure of anything.
