March 2016 Plotting Post
March 2016
Here is your March plotting post! You can make use of the information here to plot what your character will be doing in the next month. An important event will be kicking off at the end of this month: nominations for the Night Council elections. There will be an OOC post nearer the time with more details.
In the meantime, check out the calendar for a quick summary of when things are happening!
Factions
Last month saw another big shake-up in the witch community, with Abigail Widdowson stepping forward to take her place as the new Maiden of all witches. A notorious and divisive figure best known for leading the first coven openly affiliated with Circle Midnight for several years, her appointment has not been without controversy. Rumours abound that those at the very top of the Night Council have been looking for ways to discredit her – but thus far her claim still stands.
The representatives of the Night Council will soon have other things on their mind, however, as nominations for the Night Council election take place at the end of this month. The incumbents are all automatically nominated unless they choose to step down, and will be preparing to win the hearts and minds of their voters in order to stay in power.
While changes are afoot in the world of politics, the changing of the seasons also means a shift in power for the Seelie and Unseelie Court. March is the month of the spring equinox, when the Seelie finally drive out the Unseelie north of the river, and declare that summer is on its way once again.
Territories
There were no changes in territories this month, the first time that the city has remained stable for almost a year.
Circle Daybreak is the most powerful faction in the city, with seven territories. See the Territories page for more information.
If your faction would like to claim a new territory, please comment to the appropriate thread. Players will then have three days from the date and time of the initial claim to sign up for the conflict. Anyone can sign up, but please only volunteer your character if they are a member of a faction involved in the conflict or they have IC reasons to actively help out. Please do not volunteer if you won't be able to participate in the plot.
If the outcome of the conflict is not already guaranteed, I will then look at the sign-ups list to calculate which faction will emerge victorious. It is up to players to plan and play out the actual conflict itself. If you comment to claim a territory, then you should also take the lead in planning and organizing it.
Minions
The following lucky minions will be promoted this month:
These minions will decide to leave town this month:
And these less fortunate minions will sadly die this month:
Factions may decide how and when their minions die, leave town or receive a promotion. Feel free to work these developments into any of this month's plots.
Drops
The following characters will be leaving this month:
Their faction may decide the exact details of how characters leave and incorporate their exit into their plots if they wish.
Events
Plots
The following prompts are up for grabs this month:
About plots and events
• You may claim one plot prompt per month.
• You can also run your own plots based on the events listed above, or create your own.
• If you claim a plot, then you also volunteer to take the lead OOCly i.e. planning and organizing with other players, deciding on the outcome, setting a timeline etc.
• Once you have claimed a plot, you should introduce it ICly within the next month.
• Plots may not be entirely handwaved. You may handwave some of the plot, but you should play out at least part of it.
• Some plots will require NPCs as well as player characters to fill different roles. Please feel free to make up and play the NPCs yourselves.
• Plots are generally open-ended enough that you can make them big or small. It is up to the player who claims the plot to decide how they would like to handle it. You may want to do open sign-ups for your plot and specify whether there is a limit on how many characters can participate.
• Plots can also be self-contained or form part of an ongoing storyline. Again, it is your choice on how you would like to handle it.
• Please feel free to integrate plots and events or join plots up where appropriate. For example, if you claim a plot that involves a murder, why not choose an event during which the murder could happen? As long as the mod and other players are aware of your plans, I'm happy to accommodate.
• Do not ask the mod to explain what the plot is and what your character should do or discover. That is up to you. These plot ideas are just that, ideas, and it is up to you to run with them and decide how and why these events are happening, what your characters are going to do about it, and what the consequences will be.
• You may ask the mod questions pertaining to game mythology, to check that what you are planning to do makes sense within the game world.
• This list is not meant to be limiting in any way! Player plots are also very welcome.
• If you have an idea for a player plot, please feel free to comment here and see if there is any interest. Run it by the mod first if you're unsure of anything.

Minions
The following lucky minions will be promoted this month:
Sarah Roberts | Witch, Circle Daybreak | Level 1
‣ A skittish younger witch who can communicate with animals. Has a large number of cats.
Tobias Dalton | Witch, Circle Daybreak | Level 1
‣ A young male witch who specialises in barrier and disruption spells.
Thomas Hillis | Meta Human, Hillingdon Clan | Level 1
‣ Fresh-faced trainee hunter. Wants to make a difference in the Underground and all that rubbish.
Kristoff Danielson | Vampire, Unseelie Court | Level 1
‣ A vampire with a rather unfortunate addiction to fae blood. A curse keeps him from drinking the unwilling, so he helps the court in exchange for his hits.
Aeronwy Cadwalader | Fae, Unseelie Court | Level 1
‣ An ancient siren whose voice is powerful and haunting.
Agnes | Meta Human, Unseelie Court | Level 1
‣ She's almost certainly just a friendly old lady.
These minions will decide to leave town this month:
Rebecca Thomas | Witch, Circle Daybreak | Level 1
‣ A small witch who has an intense fear of werewolves and vampires.
Chloe Baxter | Human, Circle Midnight | Level 1
‣ A football-mad mother of three whose oldest daughter is a witch.
Michelle Baxter | Witch, Circle Midnight | Level 2
‣ A secondary school girl who has become politically active as a witch, "championing" the cause of Circle Midnight via neighbourhood petitions.
Kaydance Rivers | Witch, Circle Midnight | Level 1
‣ Desperate to get into a good school, Kay has turned to (secretly) trying to make deals with fae for academic success.
Carina Figueroa | Human, Hillingdon Clan | Level 1
‣ Witnessed the death of her son at the hands of a vampire and now harbours a grudge about as loaded as her illegal semi-automatic.
Christopher Zil | Meta Human, Redbright Institute | Level 2
‣ Member of the Outreach team. Powers include slowing and quickening time.
Hanh Vu | Fae, Seelie Court | Level 1
‣ An antisocial fae who loves puzzles.
And these less fortunate minions will sadly die this month:
Maria Foster | Witch, Circle Daybreak | Level 1
‣ A quiet witch focused on healing magic.
Paula Black | Witch, Circle Daybreak | Level 1
‣ A witch who specialises in fire due to an abject hate of the cold.
Mushira Ahmad | Human, Seelie Court | Level 1
‣ A frequent attendee of parties held by fae. She made a few too many deals and now works for the fae in return for a free decadent lifestyle.
Factions may decide how and when their minions die, leave town or receive a promotion. Feel free to work these developments into any of this month's plots.
Drops
The following characters will be leaving this month:
Lagertha | Seelie Court |livesarejuststories | Left town 15/02/16
Their faction may decide the exact details of how characters leave and incorporate their exit into their plots if they wish.
Events
6th March – MOTHER'S DAY. Mothers deserve appreciation too. Of course, the most well-known mother in the supernatural community is Sylvia Redbright, the Mother of Witches. She never asks but she always receives gifts, flowers and well-wishes from her covens. She has an unspoken but vicious rivalry with Millicent, who is also a mother of a sort, being the ultimate sire of most of the Islington Nest. Members of the nest are never told but always subtly encouraged to offer a gift to their leader.
17th March – ST PATRICK'S DAY. The patron saint of Ireland, celebrating St Patrick's Day is the best excuse you will ever have for dressing up in green, going on a pub crawl and getting absolutely wasted. Naturally, Londoners love it.
20th March – OSTARA (SPRING EQUINOX). The spring equinox represents the balance between summer and winter, and thus the Seelie and Unseelie Courts find themselves equally matched. As the sun rises, the Seelie will muster their forces to drive out the Unseelie north of the river. They will succeed and the balance of power in the Other Realm will be reversed – a sign that summer is on its way once again. This is also an important time for witches who are celebrating the renewal and rebirth of spring. It is traditional to plant seeds in one's garden and cast a spell for good luck. However, witches who perform dark magic may find a different occupation: the changeover of seasons is the perfect time to summon the fae from either Court, whose power is at an equal but manageable ebb.
23rd March – FULL MOON. Werewolves, it's that time of the month! Will you chain yourself up or spend the night in a cage? Roam wild in the London parks? Or perhaps find a witch to make you a wolfsbane potion. Whatever you choose, better be prepared.
25th-28th March – EASTER HOLIDAY WEEKEND. Easter is a bank holiday in the UK, which means a four day weekend. It's also usually around this time that the Seelie, overjoyed with happiness at their victory over the Unseelie, decide to spread the love in true Seelie fashion by bestowing gifts on attractive strangers (and friends). The weekend spirit is full of good fortune and cheer.
29th-31st March – NIGHT COUNCIL NOMINATIONS. This three day nominations period marks the beginning of the Night Council elections, the most important democratic event in the supernatural community. Those who wish to stand for one of the five seats on the Night Council must be nominated by other upstanding members of the community. The election campaign will take place through April and culminate in the election itself in early May. Look out for an upcoming mod post with more details on the process.
Plots
The following prompts are up for grabs this month:
1) There is a bounty on a rogue vampire. This vampire is deliberately hunting down other supernatural types in order to turn them. Reward: £900
2) Someone sends you a severed head through the post. – Claimed by Frank
3) In a school where all the students are suspiciously well-behaved, it seems that the headteacher may be using supernatural powers to control them. – Claimed by Serey
4) A fae curses you (and potentially others) to break into song every time you try to speak.
